If you want to resize take a look at interp2. But your description
rather indicates that you want to crop a small region of the image:

SmallIm = Im(50:61, :, :);

I wonder if it is possible to change interpolation from nearest
neighbour to bilinear, when viewing images using imagesc (or image), or
if the solution is to get the size of the figure window, and resize the
images first.

6. i need a FUNCTION to resize an image

first i have to read the image in matlab (imread)
Then i should set the parameter ( how much i wanna zoom the image :
*2 or *3 or *4 ... )
Then write the image (imwrite) to another filename

Well , my teacher told me that i have to import the image in a matrix
; and the in example if wanna double the size of the image , the
matrix becomes:

Original matrix : It becomes :
1 2 1 1 2 2
3 4 1 1 2 2
                                3 3 4 4
                                3 3 4 4

8. Does resizing an image affect the results?

Just wanted to know if I am right or wrong on this one :

Basically I have a 1280*960 image.

How does resizing this image to half or even less its original size
affect it in terms of thresholding, edge detection, and morphological

I have also performed imadjust on the 1280*960 image with no major
difference, on the other hand I have cropped a portion of the image
300*300 and on performing imadjust, i have noticed a significant
difference in the output image.

I also noticed that when filling "holes" in the 1280*960 binary image,
it would not make any different, but when cropping a portion of the
originall image, and performing imholes, the result was fine.

Can someone please help me to understand the above and when is it a
good idea to resize an image ??

Is it better to crop an image rather than resize ?

Many thanks,
