Hello All,

I want to delete drives in the FastT i.e hdisk11 which is
equivalent to datavg1.

1) Where should I delete it first in the FasT or in the OS or AIX?

2) And after I delete blow out the disk what commands do I issue in AIX

Thanks
UnixStudent

You want to delete it from the OS first... if you get rid of it in the
FastT, then AIX will be looking for it and causing problems...
First unmount the associated filesystem (df -k will give you that)
Then exportvg datavg1 (If this is the only disk in datavg1...)
then rmdev -l hdisk11 will remove the device from the system...
(Exportvg may also remove the device, been a while... if rmdev gives an
error then you know exportvg removed it) then you can remove it from
the FastT.

the procedure to delete a logical disks hdisk* in fastT storage device
will look as the following.

1. make sure all data in your datavg1 has been backed up, remove all pp
in hdisk11.
2. remove the disk from datavg1, reducevg -f datavg1 hdisk11.
3. list the disk information, lspv | egrep -i 'datavg1|none'.
4. remove the disk from ODM, rmdev -dl hdisk11
5. go to fastT storage manager, remove the hdisk11's mapping and delete
the disk.

hope that will be helpful,

Best Regards,

Frank

4. IBM FastT 200 SAN

Can anybody point me in the right direction in regards to optimizing
performance on an IBM FastT 200 SAN?

We have our SAN up and running, but the performance is pitiful. We
can only get 12MBps throughput. Definitely not what we envisioned.

I've tweaked the numerous settings recommended by IBM in all their
optimization manuals, but can't get any faster throughput. We are
ready to chuck all this expensive equipment.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

8. Extending LUN FastT

Hello aix gurus,

After I increased the LUN or the logical disk in the FastT, I
do a " chvg -g <vgname>" right..
Now my question is, do I have to increase the filesystem or the logical
volume?
Also, can I do more than one increases or "increase capacity" in FastT
so when I run "chvg -g
<vgname>" it will pick all the changes in one shot..We are planning to
add 40 gigs on 4 logical
volume in the same volume group...
