SAS-Xperts: Is there a way password protect an excel file created by SAS ? Preferably as part of the application's processing. Excel files themselves can be password protected, but is there a way for SAS to engage this, or a third party utility available ? We needed to do the same thing with PDF files, which I'm told will be a new feature (password protecting) in v9.2. We found a utility that operates from the command that will accomplish what we want to do (the utility hasn't come in yet -- I'm assuming, and hopefully not ASSuming, that the user will be able to execute the utility via their SAS programs, ie: %Sysexec, CALL SYSTEM, "X", etc). Now, the same question has arisen concerning Excel files. Given the popularity of Excel, I'm assuming that we aren't unique in having to tackle this problem. Any and all information/suggestions/assistance will be much appreciated. Thank you. -Gerry Gerard T. Pauline Mgr, Internet Applications & University Web Master Computer Systems, DoIT Pace University
Would be great if someone could help. Sometimes when PC users send attachments to me (like excel, word or powerpoint files), they show up as "mime" documents and my mac will not read the file. I don't know how to overcome this problem and it is a huge pain in the butt. I'd appreciate some feedback, thanks in advance! XXXX@XXXXX.COM
