I just installed a new Windows 2003 Server this weekend and my Mac's using
OS X cannot connect successfully. They can mount SMB Fine but get the
following message

"Could not connect to the server because the name or password is not
correct."

OS X clients will need to install the MS UAM, found here
http://www.microsoft.com/mac/otherproducts/otherproducts.aspx?pid=windows2000sfm
to connect to the afp shares with the server in the default configuration.
Alternately the server can be set to allow apple authentications to afp
shares. This setting is found in computer management>right click on shared
folders>select configure file services for Macintosh>enable the
authentication method of your choice.

2. AFP connections to Windows 2003 server

This is what we've done:
Windows 2003 server:
Digital communications (if client agrees)
NTLM allow both NTLM and NTLM2 connections
Mac file server - Allow Clear Text Passwords( Apple and microsoft)

On the Mac client (all 10.3.x) - Allow Clear Text Passwords

When attempting to connect to the file server, we get the error:
"could not connect to the server, because the name or password is
incorrect"

The server is a member server in a Windows 2003 domain. What could we be
doing wrong?

4. Windows 2003 Server Mac File Sharing using AFP

How do I allow a Mac client to access a file share using afp on a
Windows 2003 Server 64 bit server?

In Windows 2003 Server 32 bit it worked fine if I
1. Enable Apple Clear Text authentication via Computer Management ->
Shared Folders -> "Configure File Server for Macintosh" and then
setting the Enable authentication.

2. Disable "Digitally sign communications (always)" under the Local
Security Policy.

But in the 64 bit version there is no "Configure File Server for
Macintosh" option. Is there a another way to enable Apple Clear Text
or some other method of allowing mac clients to connect using AFP?

Thanks

6. Mac 10.4.7 / Server 2003 R2 AFP on DC - problems changing password

Hi,

I have a domain controller with Server 2003 R2. Services for Macintosh
are installed with Apple Cleartext Passwords set.

We are not using the AD plugin - just AFP. When you try connecting to
the DC via AFP, it will connect with any problem. However, if you try
change your password before logging in by clicking the gear icon and
"change password" , we get an error -50 Cannot change password or -5000
cannot change password.

We use MacAdministrator and they have a replica of our installation and
it works just fine. We can't find the setting that could be causing
this. Domain security and domain controller password policies are
turned off. We tried turned off and not defined. Doesn't help.

Also tried "Apple Clear Text" and "Apple clear text or microsoft" in
the configure file server for apple.

We appreciate any thoughts.

Thanks,
Joe
