macintosh, Mac clients can not see files/folders created by Unix clients.

I posted this on the SFU forum with no luck. Hopefully someone here has seen 
this.

I have Windows 2003 Server with Services for Unix 3.5 and File Server for 
Macintosh. We share a WIP folder to PC users, Macintosh OS9 and OSX users, 
and now AIX and Linux Unix clients. When I create folders/files in WIP using 
Linux/AIX clients, they can not be seen in the directory listing by Macintosh 
clients using AFP to mount the share. They are seen by Windows clients. They 
can also be seen using SMB under OSX. This is not available for OS9.

Creating a file/folder using Windows or Mac clients can be seen by everyone. 
Deleting the Mac share and re-creating it shows the files/folders created by 
Unix clients but this is not feasable in production environments.

Is this a bug? Am I missing some configuration? I've gone over it a hundred 
times. It seems like it would have be seen before but I can't find any info 
on the web.

I am looking for a webmail solution that will allow me to interact
with folders created through Outlook (I connect to my server with
outlook via IMAP).  The biggest problem seems to be that sendmail
stores the inbox folder in /var/spool/mail but outlook creates the
custom folders in the root of the user's home folder. I've tried
NeoMail and Squirrelmail without any luck.  Anyone have any
suggestions?  I'm running RH9 on my server and being able to access
all my folders that I create through Outlook via the webmail interface
would be a great help!

We recently moved a large share from a Windows 2000 server to a new system 
running Windows 2003 server. (530 GB, > 1.1 million files/directories)

It consists of one windows share (not the root directory) an one Mac volume 
on the same directory.

If a PC (or a Mac connected to the Windows share via SMB) creates a file or 
directory, Macs connected to the SFM volume can not see it.

It is behaving exactly like what's described in KB article 164138, but, that 
article applies to NT4...

The file share on the Windows 2000 server has worked fine and in, fact is 
working fine, and has more files on it, because there was some stuff we did 
not transfer to the new server.

I've got no problems connecting to the volumes, and I'm using the latest MS 
UAM for the mac clients.

I got a report from client that they used to be able to 
see and access share on win2k professional from macintosh 
(OS v 9) via appletalk protocol.

Then I found the 262282 article (knowledge base), and it 
claims:

You cannot use the AppleTalk protocol in Windows 2000 
Professional to share folders or printers for Macintosh 
clients. This feature is available with Services for 
Macintosh in Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 Server or Microsoft 
Windows 2000 Server.
