SQL Server >> Network drivers missing

by Azul » Sat, 11 Sep 2004 00:27:44 GMT

I have multiple SQL instances running on a machine and it
seems that after I deleted the Lotus Notes Drivers that
all SQL drivers were removed.

I tried to reinstall the drivers using MDAC but they
still don't show in the ODBC Data Source Administrators
Drivers listing for the DSNs. Anybody have any ideas? I
tried to installed a new instance and it failed as well.

1. Invalid domain on Gui - network driver missing ?

hi
I have a windows 2003 windows deployment server though its using ris
legacy. I'm trying to RIS a Dell D820 and have copied the network
drivers to the image itself loose in the folder, in $oem$/$1/Drivers
with the laptops type below that and $textmode, loose in 386 folder
and in the $oem$ structure and to the windows base image in the same
ways. the riprepfile shows -
Oempnpdriverspath = Drivers\DellD820

It gets past the need for network drivers on the blue text screens but
fails on the windows gui to join the domain ("invalid domain
specified"). the sif file refers to it as -
OemPnpdriverspath = Drivers\DellD820;

[Identification]
JoinDomain = specified
DoOldStyleDomainJoin = Yes

its showing up correctly in the windows gui just not joining it. from
textmode it does create the object in active directory successfully so
I'm thinking I haven't got the driver right in gui mode but can't find
where it needs to be.

3. IBM THINKPAD R40 NETWORK CONTROLLER: MISSING ETHERNET DRIVER

Help!
I own the IBM Thinkpad R40 notebook and recently installed Windows Vista
Home Premium. I cannot connect to the internet as I do not have a compatible
Ethernet driver. Under Device Manager in Control Panel, I have 2 Yellow
Exclamation Points in 'Other Devices': Network Controller and Unknown Device.
Does anyone have the Vista compatible ethernet driver that allows the R40
laptop to connect to DSL either wirelessly or via LAN?

I tried the IBM site for drivers and contacted IBM Support 4 times to no
avail.
