SQL Server >> sql server 2005?

Has anyone seen what the system requirements will be for sql server 2005?
I've found a lot of information on what it can do, but not the system
requirements. Thanks

Here is what it says in the documentation that is installed with Sql Server
2005 Beta 2.

Section: Hardware and Software Requirements for Installing Sql Server 2005

Hardware
600 Mhz or higher (1GHz recommended)

Memory
256 MB (512MB recommended)

Hard disk space
95 to 300 MB, 250 MB typical
Analysis Services 50 MB, 130 MB typical
Reporting Services 50 MB, 30 MB for Report Designer

Monitor
1024x768

Pointing Device
Something other than a USB compatible finger :-)

CD-ROM drive

BTW, the new Sql Server Management Studio is a pig (when running on my
Virtual PC machine) so you'll want some horsepower when you use it.

Since SQL Server 2005 is still in beta, system requirements are probably not
finalized. You might check out SQL Server 2005 Express, and see what it
requires.

The system requirements may be subject to change before release so it
probably isn't very useful to know them at this stage unless you are on the
Beta. The Beta requirements are documented in the Beta distribution.

Why do you want to know? Curiosity or to ensure your existing hardware will
be OK?

As others have pointed out... some of the tools may be a bit more 'resource
intensive'. But strictly from a server perspective... it's unlikely that MS
will release a version of SQL 2005 that performs noticeable worse on
identical hardware. I woudln't worry all that much about the hardware
requirements. The requirements for YOUR application may be substantially
different anyway. Min requiresments are just that, the minimum.

For those who wanted to know, budget planning for next year, and just trying
to get as much evidence as possible for new servers. Even if the beta
version is off, it's not likely the diskspace, memory or mhz requirements
will go down.

Thanks for the information.
