Microsoft Office Publisher >> Pub 98 Clipart & XP

by confused » Wed, 08 Oct 2003 14:58:08 GMT

I have Win XP installed and am using Publisher98 for
doing flyers etc and kids use it for school work. I can
use Pub98 clipart on the "administrators login", but when
my son wants to use 'clipart' in his login, it comes up
with a warning,
"The Clip Gallery is in use. Close the Clip Gallery that
is already running and try again".
Yet there is no Clip Gallery open on any other user.
I have uninstalled Pub98 and reinstalled it, yet it still
does this.

Can anybody tell me why does this happen and what can be
done to fix it?
Thanks for your help in advance.

Gee glad to see you have electricity and a communication connection to the
outside world today from New Zealand.
Things must be improving in New Zealand. I suppose there is so few people
left in New Zealand things have to improve.
When you leave for greener pastures like everybody else that goes across the
pond, please put out the lights when you leave if the electricity happens to
be on.

Well all you have to do is do an install Publisher for every user setup on
XP.

Then everything will work for you on Publisher 98

As long as the rest of the world know how kind the Australians are to the
Kiwis and supply them with food packs and torch batteries.

When New Zealanders come over to Australia permanently or on holiday they
cannot quickly enough get some decent Australian lamb and food and have a
great banquet. It is so long since they had a decent meal like the
Blitishers.

One day the New Zealanders will actually learn to play sport so they can
give the Australians some real competition.

1. trouble opening PUB 98 files in XP

I have recently installed Windows XP, having first backed
up my files on CD. I re-installed Pub 98 but now I have
difficulty importing years of work from the CD's into
Publisher 98. Error messages such as "can't open file"
and "do not have permission to open these files" etc keep
coming up on screen.

Can you advise please.

Thank you

5. Importing Pub 98 to Pub 2000 problem

I'm new to this forum and a quick check didn't locate my question.
I'm sure it's been asked before, so I apologize in advance for any
inconvenience, bear with me. (I do not have Publisher on this machine)
I received the following message earlier:
"The church uses MS Publisher 98 to create most of their documents. I have
MS Pub. 2000. For some reason, known only to MS, Pub 2000 cannot read Pub 98
files, however Pub XP can read all versions....When I attempt to open the 98
files with 2000, I get a message that says I don't have the correct version
of Publisher. This is the same message that the church secretary gets when
she tries to open a file that she has created at the church on her home
computer which also has the 2000 version"

Is this an issue between the versions and 2000 is not backward compatible
with 98? Or is this an issue of another type?
