Microsoft Office Publisher >> Font problem in Publisher 2002

by Laura » Fri, 03 Oct 2003 01:44:01 GMT

I am a printer that has clients submit artwork in
Publisher 2002. I have problems with some fonts printing
correctly. Sometimes they print as symbols and other
times they print as a different font even though the
correct font is installed. This problem occurs to a
postscript printer and non-postscript printer. I can save
the document back to Publisher 2000 and correct the font
problem but in doing so I create other problems. The font
even looks wrong on my screen. I have loaded and unloaded
the program and the problem still exsists. NEED HELP!!!

After managing to set up OE-QuoteFix on his new PC, Ed reads a message
from Laura < XXXX@XXXXX.COM >...

What happens if your clients convert to a PostScript format and you distill
to PDF?

4. Font Problem in Pub 2003--Wide fonts

Interesting problem. This problem only exists for me in Publisher 2003, not
in Pub 2000.

When I refer to "wide" fonts, I am referring to a .TTF font that is "wide"
or "long horizontally". Imagine a Wingding.ttf character that displays, for
example, a "One Way" road sign. Fonts that are rectangular and wide.

Now imagine several of these fonts used in a sentence. The problem is that
these wide fonts overlap each other, as if the kerning or spacing were
"condensed". All of these fonts lie on top of each other. Other fonts, such
as Arial, are fine.

I actually have to convert Pub 2003 publications back to Pub 2000 to display
these fonts correctly. Does anyone have any ideas? Could there be a fix
somewhere, perhaps a download or something?

6. Fonts from Publisher 2003 to Word 2002

We are on a large network using Windows XP. We use Word 2002 and our unit
has independently purchased separate Publishers 2003 licenses for only a few
computers.

One computer that has the separately purchased license for Publisher 2003
(for their computer only) is complaining that when she creates documents and
sends those documents to other computers (that do not have Publisher
software), the result is the formatting is messed up & fonts have changed.

Can we download or copy fonts from Publisher 2003 to computers that do not
have a Publisher license? Any suggestions?

Thank you!
