1. Slow response from MS Office 2003 when Network Printing
On my Church Secretary's PC (HP 800 MHz with 512 MB PC 133 SDRAM)
...........
When I select "File>Print" from any Office 2003 Pro (Win XP version),
the Print window does not appear for at least 45 seconds and most time
1-1.5 minutes. The printer is networked through a 4-port Linksys
Switch/Router. I can disconnect everything on the network expect this
one PC and printer and the problem persists.
The strange part is, my other XP computer on the same network, running
the same version of XP and Office (Physically loaded from the same CD
license set ), with identical print drivers does not experience this
problem.......neither does my ME machine with Office 98.
Connecting this PC to the parallel port alleviates the problem,
however, due to space constraints (office design) I cannot leave the PC
connected in this fashion.
I have changed NICs and reloaded Office, XP, and the drivers as well as
changed network switch ports, ethernet cables, etc. Even physically
moved the PC to another wall drop.... no change. I have dropped DHCP
and refreshed IP ADX but no change.
When the windiow finally arrives, everything works just fine.
Neither Microsoft nor Gestetener have an answer for this.
Thanks in advance,
Tobee
2. Slow response with net use printer
3. Windows 2000 slow to response to network printer
Currently have several Windows 2000 Pro systems that were
update to SP4. The server and clients are 2000 Pro SP4 the
printer is a laserjet 2100 using LPT1. The local system
responses instantly getting a dialog box for selecting the
printer in IE. The remote systems take 2 minutes before
the print dialog box come up. When they do print
everything prints OK and the amount of time is normal for
the print job. Also take along time to bring up the ready
status of the printer in printer and faxes.

4. Very Slow Shared Printer Response - Windows Small Business Server(SBS)
5. XP client slow response from shared printer on W98 host
My Canon ip4000 is a shared USB printer on my Windows 98 desktop computer.
The share name is "CANON" and the computer identification is "MSI".
I want to use it from my Windows XP notebook computer over my
crossover-cable network. Alas, the response time is poor - about 1.5 minutes
to open the printer properties window.
Worse yet, it takes about 3-5 minutes to open a MS Word document on the
Windows XP computer. Apparently, before opening the document, Word checks
the printer properties in order to configure the page setup menu.
From the Windows 98 host, the printer test page show port name "MPUSBPRN01"
and a list of Windows 98 drivers.
From the Windows XP client, the printer test page shows port name
\\MSI\CANON and a list of Windows XP drivers. In printer properties, the
port description is "LAN Manager Printer Port".
If I disconnect the network cable, the MS Word document opens almost
immediately.
I tried a different installation approach, to no avail: I connected the
Windows XP computer directly to the printer through a USB port. Thus, I
added another printer. Next, I attempted to change the port of printer
number 2, from USB to \\MSI\CANON. This change was refused.
Am I plumb out of luck? I had no problems using a Windows 98 notebook to
access the host printer.
Suggestions?

7. Printer response very slow - documents stuck in queue
I am using an HP Laserjet 2200 DTN network printer.
Recently the printer response time has become very slow and previously
printed documents are remaining in the print queue with status shown "Sent to
Printer". These documents are reprinting on startup. The option to retain
printed documents is NOT checked and I have reinstalled the printer several
times.
Any help available?
