I can connect my 5455 with my local wifi network (green signal and 100%
status on wlan settings) but I am not able to use pocket pc internet
explorer. It doesn't show signs that it is connected! Are there any specific
settings I should try?
1. IPAQ 5455 WLAN (ADSL modem wiress router) - page cannot be found
Am hoping that this is going to be simple one, though a couple of hours goggling has revealed zip. I have a Belkin ADSL modem and wireless router, which I use to share my broadband connection. I have a couple of notebooks sharing this connection (11b+11g and WEP enabled) and all is cool. I also have a 5455, which I believe is connecting OK - I can ping external/internal IP addresses - however, I am struggling with Pocket Internet Explorer. Each time that I attempt to browse to a URL I get a 'page cannot be found' response. The same is true if I try the IP address in Internet Explorer, though pinging the same IP (via vxUtil) is OK. Am more than a little frustrated. All advice/assistance gratefully received.
2. iPAQ WLAN Firmware update on iPAQ 5455
I just updated to the new WLAN firmware (100.5.39) on my 5455. after installing it. and turning on the wifi. I got horrible signal strength. even sitting it in front of AP I only could get 39%-40% signal strength. My AP is 802.11b. The new firmware says its for b/g. I went back to version 1.00 and now I get 100% signal strength. Just wanted to let everyone know. - Trent

7. Ipaq 5455 - On Vacation With A $600 Paperweight
OK, so I get off the plane in London and my Ipaq 5455 will simply not turn on. (Worked fine all during the flight). Push the button once - nothing... push it again - nothing... 3rd time - nothing. No problem, probably just needs a soft reset. I stick the stylus in that little hole in the bottom and it magically comes to life. Only one problem; it did a *** HARD RESET *** -- Everything is lost!!! and I'm 3000+ miles from my computer. So essentially, I'm traveling for 2 weeks with a $600 paperweight. This is latest in a string of defects and disappointments I've experienced owning this unit. I'm just waiting to see if HP will offer a replacement or refund. If not, I'm on my way to Small Claims Court. A_C
