wireless >> MS Rep Please Respond: WM2003 Activesync Guest Sync Problem

by joegraz » Sat, 04 Oct 2003 14:22:20 GMT

Hi,

I really want to get to the bottom of this issue. There have been
countless posts everywhere I search about WM2003 having issues with
Activesync not matching up the partnership and connecting as a Guest.
It's not an isolated issue and my feelings are it is not the user that
is causing the problem.

Plain and simple fact: With identical setup in PPC 2002 we never had
this problem. With WM2003 a lot of us do.

Why is this? Can (Will) Microsoft officially state there is a bug
dealing with connectivity issues and resolving the partnerships for
Activesync?

I've gotten to the point where every other time I connect to my VPN I
can sync with the appropriate partnership and not guest. This is
unacceptable for an upgrade that promised improvements in wireless
connectivity, don't you agree?

I'll clarify again; I have no trouble connecting with the right
partnership using either USB or direct Wi-Fi connection when I am
inside of my home network. I have run into problems syncing only as a
Guest when I attempt to sync through a VPN. And once again I
emphasize, these are the exact same settings used in PPC2002 that
worked flawlessly.

Also I use pocket hosts to resolve the address of my VPN server to my
computer name. Again this is the Exact same setting I used in PPC2002
with no problems at all. I have also attempted to reinstall
activesync, delete/re-establish partner ship, hard-reset Pocket PC,
create new partnership, etc... I always get stuck back in the same
place.

What is going on here? Please tell us if you know that there are bugs
in the software (WM2003) that are causing this. I'd be much more
satisfied refreshing PPC 2002 and waiting until this bug is resolved
rather than trying to figure out what I may have set up incorrectly.

Thank you,

Joe

I am having this http_500 error as well. It appears that everyone talks
about this article 817379,however it doesn't exist on the MS website.

So how are we supposed to resolve this error? I am confused. I would think
this would be a pretty easy service to set up.

Thanks.
