Hello, I am thinking about getting the HP ipaq 2210 but I have heard
that many CF wifi cards arn't compatible with Pocket PC 2003 can
anyone tell me of a card that will work. I was thinking of getting a
D-link card but I'm not sure if it's compatible. Thanks.

Most are, the rest will be shortly if not already. Make sure you purchase
new equipment with support. Check the vendors website for compatibility and
2003 drivers.

The CF card by AmbiCom will work 2003. You have to go to there web site and
download the drives. Works great in my 2215.

I have had Linksys, D-link, and Socket. I am currently using a Socket card
and it is by far the lowest power consumer (you battery will last
considerably longer). They are a little more expensive, but well worth it
in the long run.

I used the Belkin, D-Link, Socket and AmbiCom.
No problems, but I strongly recommend the Socket or
Symbol (OEM) since they have the lowest power consumption
and the battery on the iPAQ 2215 will last you longer.

PS: AmbiCom / Netgear have a smaller antenna so you can
insert eject SD cards while using the Wi-Fi.

I don't agree. Have ever had the best support from Socket comparing to all
other companies. They have always been responsive. And additionally to their
formal support, they have an user forum that sometimes gets us the answers
even quicker.

I'm having trouble with my ambicom in my 2215 - posted
this message already, sorry, but wanted to do it more
direct.

Half the time it does not connect. The ppc 2003 driver
loaded, but the program is nowhere to be found. I did not
get the icon I am supposed to see on the screen either,
so I seem to have no way of even configuring it. Did you
get an icon? Do you see the program under Programs? Or is
none of this necessary and the card is just flaky?

I do not get the Icon. When the Card is installed go to
Start-->Connections-->Connections-->Advanced-->Network Card. You should have
some setting there. When I installed mine I installed the drivers first.
Then I put the card in. After that when it found my Wireless network it
asked for the WEP key. I did that and it started to work.

Its to Bad though because Socket specifically states they do not provide technical support in their own forums. This, I feel is a bad decision they've made. I've experienced some of the best technical support by using the manufacturers forums. Not only do I excellent solutions from people like yourself, I get solutions from the manufacturers forums technical advisors.

Enjoy,
Peter

Your welcome. On mine the connection strength is always good. But my home
and work are very open. I heard that the D-Link card works good.

They had in the past one person, John Doub, who was responsible for the
forum, helping people and giving answers. But John went up to a different
position at Socket and there was nobody to take this hat.

However, they opened the SOS Support on Demand, where you can write to them
using their Web Site and the Service Call is registered on a system. Every
time I tried it, I've got direct contact with a support engineer by email
within 1-2 days, already with a response for my problem or a new set of
questions for me to answer. In 100% of the cases (3 cases up to now) they
have found the solution for me.

Enjoy,
Peter
