Unfortunately, PPC2003 seems to handle comm differently in many instances
(WiFi comes to mind as another big one). I suspect you need to contact the
vendor (Sierra Wireless & Sprint PCS?) about getting a driver uipgrade.

2. Struggling w/ iPAQ 5550 and SprintPCS/Novatel Merlin C201

I have all the software items that I think I need installed, and when I
insert the PCCard, PocketPC 2003 tells me that there is no connection for
the modem that was just inserted. That tells me PocketPC 'knows' the card is
there.

When I run the Sprint/Novatel Connection Manager, it says "Alert - No PCS
Connection Card Detected".

The PCCard works fine in my laptop and just recently upgraded its firmware
to 1065.

Can someone tell me what I've missed?

Is there a special 'connection' one must configure on the PocketPC to make
this work? I could not find anything useful in the documents from Sprint
regarding the PcoketPC and iPAQ.

It's been a real frustrating couple days. :-/

Thanks anyone,

4. Sprint PPC6600: trying to send mail using a non-Sprint account

Background:
I am trying (unsuccessfully) to send mail using Pocket PC
2003's messaging utility with non-Sprint pop accounts. I
have a couple of email accounts that I want to send mail
from, but I don't want to have to use my Sprint account
to do this. I was able to do this before using my treo
600 because, in addition to the fields for pop
credentials, there were alternate fields for smtp
credentials. Inbound mail uses one acount & pw, outbound
uses another. These problems do not exist in the desktop
version of Outloook --I think there may be a Sprint smtp
permission restriction.
Quesion(s):
Is there an updated version of the messaging util? -or-
is there another mail util that will let you do this? -or-
does anyone know of a workaround for this situation?
Sprint tech support seemed to be aware of this. I love
what I have seen so far from Pocket PC 2003 and I do not
want to have to switch back to Palm (treo 650).

Here is the information I got on MS website. But, I don't know what to do.
However, I already loaded 4.1 ActiveSync and talked to 3 different Sprint
Techs. They say its a Microsoft Outlook issue.

Thank you.

8. Unable to restore after upgrade to PPC2003

I just upgraded my HP3835 to Pocket PC Premium from Pocket PC 2002.

Prior to the upgrade, I backed it up using ActiveSync 3.7.1 per the
instructions.

When I restore, I receive a popup stating:

"Restore cannot be completed successfully. The selected backup file was
created from a different type of mobile device."

Help instructed me to do what I already did.

Ideas?
Thank you.
