Thanks Steve,
I don't know why that URL didn't come up in my searches but it looks just
the job.

2. 3970 LCD screen cracked - suggestions for repair in the UK

Pulled my Ipaq 3970 PocketPC out of my pocket and the LCD was cracked :-(

Can anyone recommend a good UK source for a replacement display - I have
some names from a Google search but personal recommendations would be
appreciated. Also, any insight on price - I've seen the screens listed
at around 160 pounds.

Finally, how easy is a DIY job (I am an electronics engineer and used to
fixing things!)?

Thanks

4. Repairing iPAQ backup files/registry

I downloaded the Sprite "upgrade" to my iPAQ5550 backup program.
This turned out not to be suitable and I removed it. Now the
standard backup will not backup automatically even when the "sprite
wakeup event" fix is applied.

Only advice I've found is to do a hard reset.

My question is why can embedded programs not be fixed without
requiring a hard reset? I have access to all stored files and have
a registry editor. Surely the files and settings in the ipaq rom
will not have been altered?

8. IPAQ 2215 D-Pad repair query

Have had my 2215 for about two years now and have not had issue one
with it. (Just lucky I guess!) But now have noticed the D-Pad not
functioning as before when reading ebooks. (Sticking or
non-responsive to clicks to advance pages). I figure that with the
higher than average use the button is simply wearing out for that
direction. Have bought a replacement button to replace. My question
is:

Anyone had experiance with this type of repair? I sure could use a
schematic (if one was available) just to have an idea of when I'm
going to "see" when I get in there. Any input would be most
appreciated. Many thanks.
