Just got a Axim X5 (400) with PPC2003 and the Dell 802.11
card. Installed everything and the wireless network came
up, the TCP client gets an IP address from my router but
IE cant get to anything on the net. I went in and put in
a DNS address and I can get occasional connectivity but
its real slow and practically unusable.
- WLAN works fine on my PC
- IE works fine on the PPC via the USB connection to my
XP machine
- I am using static WEP, copied hex key from my PC

Any suggestions?

Some questions that can guide you:

1. Are you able to network with your PC? In case you are not, maybe DHCP is
not working properly after all and the address you seem to be receiving is a
bad one.

2. Is the address you are receiving from the same subnet that you have your
router? Usually it is 192.168.0.x, and I have seen problematic connections
receiving addresses in the 169.x.x.x range.

In case one of the 2 above seems to be the problem, try disabling WEP and
connecting without it and then re-activating and connecting, to see if it
makes any difference. Maybe there was some kind of mistake when copying the
passkey.

3. If you can network with your computer and have a proper address: in the
PPC, settings/connections/connection/Advanced/proxy, see if the checkbox
"This network connects to the Internet" (or similar) is checked for this
card. It should be checked.

Yesterday I upgradet my dell from ppc2002 to 2003. Then 
the problems started. 

When I start up my tomtom navigator and try to setup the 
gps1000 cfcard and activated it. Then my system hangs 
until i remove the card. I downgradet to ppc2002. and the 
problem was solved.

FYI,

if you also buying the 29.95 Wifi card from CompUSA:
They deliver an outdated version of the drivers on the CD in the
package.

I had trouble getting my card logging in to different (WEP)-WLAN
setups while using the drivers from CD, but it works fine with those
downloaded from dlink.com. The new drivers also feature an AP browser
that makes dealing with a number of different Aps pretty simple.

7. Dell Axim X5 with Dell TrueMobile 1180 Wireless card problem 

I have a Dell Axim X5 with Dell TrueMobile 1180 Wireless card running Pocket
PC 2003.  When I connect to one hotspot I can not connect to another hotspot
until I remove the 1180 card and then reinsert it.  Other wise the dell
shows it "searching" but it never finds another hotspot.  Why can it not
find another hotspot after if has already attached to one?
