phone_edition >> Motorola Q - Setting Outgoing COM Port
by QmxhaW5l » Thu, 15 Jun 2006 02:22:01 GMT
I have a Bluetooth Card Reader and Receipt Printer that needs an outgoing COM
Port for the WM5 Smartphone software to read credit cards and print receipts.
Can anyone tell me how I can set this up on the Motoroal Q WM5 Smartphone?
I have no trouble doing this with the WM5 and the Cingular 2125 Smartphone
(example for 2125 is here:

Appreciate your help.
Thanks. - Blaine

Hello
I have recently updated my XP with Service Pack 2. After reinializing I have
can not change Active Sync Connection. I want that Async should communcate
with a specific Bluetooth comport. The connection manager of ASync only
shows standard COM ports (e.g. 1 and 3) which all are configured com ports
of my laptop, but not the incomming ports from the PDA. I can see them in
Device Manager, etc.
Before SP2 I had a little of that problem, but that time I could unpair the
device and then repair it. After the work the connection mananger was able
to see the new configured comport.
N.B. Something goes unexpectabley when I try to establish a Async link from
the PDA. The software seems to work properly to establish a connection. The
messages tells about a success and I have a established connection, which I
can monitor. It seems that it found a old uninstalled comport or something
in the "behind". Hardware only tells me about the 4 I have created.
Using widcomm software and DLINK DBT-120 USB Bluetooth adapter.
my PDA is working perfectly against another computer (W2K pro).

4. Setting COM port FIFO size
I have an application acquiring and storing information through the
RS-232 port on a Pocket PC device from another device. I've
initially developed the application on an older iPAQ 2210 Pocket PC
2003 device, but now I'm using iPAQ 2490 Windows Mobile 2005 device
and I'm getting problem of loosing characters. Initially I thought
the newer OS version could be the cause but then I've tried I have
no problem with another (Trimble Recon) device running Widnows
Mobile 2005.
My application sets up the COM port to use no handshaking as the
other device doesn't use handshaking and I'm wondering whether the
problem could be related to a different default FIFO size of the
UART used. Is there a way to set the FIFO size of the COM port?

On an HTC TyTNII Kaiser under WM6 Pro SE CE 5.2.1620 (build 18125.0.4.2),
after I deleted an unused port (Comm Mgr/Bluetooth param/COM Ports), the
"create a new outgoing port" or "an incoming port" also disappeared.
How can I restore the ability to configure new COM ports ?
Thanks in advance for your help.

8. Gps configuration problem, - can't create a new outgoing port
Hello,
I have a Eten M600 with 225 WWE rom and WM5 installed.
I've just bought a bluetooth gps receiver (globalsat BT-338) and i tried to
follow the tipical windows mobile 5 steps to connect my m600 with the gps
receiver, but when I try to add a "New Outgoing Port" and then select the
deveiced paired (the gps receiver), I can't go ahead because the button
"next in the lower right corner doesn't work (only the cancel in the lower
left corner works and bring me back in the previous screen).
Any idea how to solve this problem?
Thank you
