It's a file with an NK2 extension. You cannot access it or edit it without
third party software.
Remove individual addresses from the autocompletion cache by highlighting
the entry when presented in the suggested names list (use your arrow key to
migrate to the entry) and then hitting your Delete key before you tab out of
the field.
To clear the entire cache, follow the instructions here:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb ;EN-US;Q287623

To access it directly you'd need to use a program like this one:

I am using Outlook 2002, SP3.. previously it would suggest names and email

suggesting after restarting Outlook.. Both auto-name-checking and suggest
names are turned on. Any suggestions?

3. Outlook 2003 Auto Complete and Name Recognition Issues

When typing in a name that Outlook 2003 should recognize (name IS in
contacts), Outlook 2003 takes a LONG time to recognize the name, if it
recognizes it at all. These functions (auto complete and name recognition)
of Outlook are not working correctly for one of my users, however, the rest
of my users (including me) aren't having issues. I have referenced two
articles from microsoft.com (287623 and 287854) and that worked the first
few times this happened, but not anymore. (These articles contained
information about .NK2 to .bak and .nick to OLD). I am extremely
frustrated and if anyone out there wants to start a support group, I'm game.
If you can help me fix this issue, that would be even better! Thanks!

5. Turning off outlooks Name Recognition or something

Hello Everyone,
I have a question that happens to us when we try to send external email.
How we are setup a few people have pop accounts and then the exchange server
handles only internal mail.

Only a few of our users have Outlook. Outlook is configured to handled the
pop and the internal mail. The problem is when sending an external mail from
outlook to XXXX@XXXXX.COM outlook will change the XXXX@XXXXX.COM to rick's
internal email address. Therefore the message will not get to rick's
external address. I know this probably normal, but is there a way to change
this in exchange or even the outlook client where if we type XXXX@XXXXX.COM it
will truly go to XXXX@XXXXX.COM and not the internal mail. which is
XXXX@XXXXX.COM if Smith is Rick's last name.

Thanks
Dan

7. Order of Address Book (name recognition) recipients

I have a question as this is driving me crazy. When I send an email to my
husband and type in his name my outlook express automatically fills in the
rest of the name until I continue to type and it becomes obvious. The problem
is that I have 3 people in my address book with the same first name that I
never email and I want my husbands name to come up first when I type in the
name "Scott". Because the others have names closer to the letter A
(alphabetized) he is not the first one that pops up and I have to keep
typing. How do I change the order of name recognition? Thanks!
