Oric computers >> Using 3.5 floppies

by Zouplaz » Thu, 09 Sep 2004 16:00:39 GMT

Hello, I've found many many posts on this ng about connecting a 3.5 floppy
to an atmos using a classical controller (I don't remember the names :
jasmin for example ?)

But is there any solution for people who don't have any controller ?
Because finding a controller seems to be (at least for me) an impossible
task : I've never seen one on ebay or anywhere else even overpriced..

Thank you

There was one about a month ago that went for ?5 for a system with Atmos
and tapes. Bargain !

You could attempt to make you own. You'll need someone to burn you and
EPROM.

There is a method of altering the Atmos so you can plug a floppy in directly
but it won't load tapes after this mod, and I don't have details yet. I've
been waiting for some time for this one !

Steve Marshall - XXXX@XXXXX.COM :

You mean, the ROM of the ORIC or the EPROM of the controller ? But I presum
e that this must be a complicated circuit... Certainly to difficult for
me...

Seems to be interesting !

Hello,

Anyway, Someone is building an interface to read/write flash card on the
oric too.
It's in progress, but it will be really useful for the oric, when it will be
finished

Does this mysterious "someone" has a name?

Since flashcard uses IDE interface, it can be used as interface to read
IDE HD/CDROM/DVD... =)
