Hiya y'all,

4'11" is how 'tall' Arianna is. *grin* (about 1.5m)
She managed to get some excellent pics of The Orchestra from last Friday's
Toledo concert.

I know this is 'slightly' off-topic, but wanted to let you know where I have
been & doing lately.

Hiya Bob,

Hope

Very happy that you had a great holiday (hate saying "vacation" grrr...) my
friend. We all deserve one from time to time. The paragliding especially
sounds like fun.

Was holding back from posting this on this NG, but since you mention
Tirol....
My brother William is currently in hospital in St. Johann in Tirol, Austria.
He has been in hospital since last Tuesday.
This is what I emailed/posted last Thursday morning.....

**********************************************************

Hiya y'all,

Phoned my Mum (in Elgin, Scotland) this morning. She gave me a lot more
information as to what is happening with my brother William.
The story I knew so far was that William had went with my Dad to Austria, on
an organised coach trip, in place of my Mum (her arthritis was too bad this
year). While in Austria, William was taken to the hospital with severe
stomach area pains, and diagnosed with "appendix problems".

Well, it now turns out that William's appendix had ruptured quite a while
back - the docs are unsure how long ago, and he had never told anyone. The
appendix fluids have been seeping into his body, and as a result he has had
1/2 of his stomach and a good part of his intestines removed. The docs are
also checking him for cancer.

William is not taking all this very well (of course), and neither is my Dad.
Dad is not understanding the medical terms, and being in a foreign speaking
country is not helping. When he phones my Mum, she is only getting the part
of the story that he is understanding.

Have been told that William is off solid food until at least this following
Tuesday.

To let you know, William is my foster brother. He is two years younger than
me at 35, and because of all that time together (he came to us at 10 months
old) he IS my brother, and I do love him so much.
He is a little backward, not being able to read or write very well, but has
a heart that is bigger than most.

Please think of and pray for our family.

Thanks for the offer - but wouldn't Bob and I get shot for having lived in
America? *grin*

Hiya Bob,

Know what you mean!
Unsure where in USA you have travelled, but when Arianna and I were up in
Toledo, Cleveland & Erie last week, I just loved the weather - warm enough
with basically no humidity.
Then, coming back by PA and WV, we broke back into that humidity wall.
I kinda have got used to the humidity here in KY, but places like GA, AL,
FL, TX etc would just kill me.

Looks like a good show. Over here we're having a lot of blues. Some friends
from Norway came over for a holiday and to see the Maryport Blues Festival
www.maryportblues.com They decided to find some places to play as they are a
blues band. The bass player was off up to Scotland though so they roped in
yours truly to play !

I'm still recovering from a three hour gig which went down very well. Had a
great time !

I showed one of them some details about Oric history in Norway as one of the
main shops was in Horton where my friends are from. They recognised the name
of the shop owner. We may get to find out some more yet ....
I also got emailed by Paul Kaufman recently and he answered a question or
two about Oric. Apparently the Oric Angels did exist (See Oric Owner and The
Story So Far .... where Jon wonders if they really existed )

This weekend has been the festival itself with Buddy Guy headlining. What a
great guitarist and showman ! I've been standing up all day watching and
enjoying the bands. Now I'm knackered !

Austria.

Blimey - what a dreadful tale. You're going through some bad times. Just
goes to show you guys should get out there and enjoy life. You never know
when you can be struck down with illness, have tornadoes/ earthquakes smash
your house etc ...

Play with your Oric whilst you still can !!!

Hiya Steve,

smash

True words my friend.
They reminds me of what I said about The Orchestra song "Before We Go"...
"The lyrics are very thought provoking as to how we treat our fellow man,
but unlike other songs of the same theme, it helps us focus on how much time
we do have on this mortal earth. This, I believe, emphasises the theme.
Whether or not we believe in eternal life after this one, the message is
still the same."

Definately need to find the time (or rather "make the time") to get back on
my Oric (/Euphoric).

Hiya Steve,

Did think of you in particular when I posted that link. Knew you would
appreciate the concert.
Arianna just came home from being out and about, and has taken back the last
roll of film that has been developed. Hope to get them scanned tomorrow at
work.

a

Sounds like the bass player has a lot of good sense! *grin*.

a

That is a long gig indeed. No wonder you were tired.

Cheers. Shame I can't hear it. I'll keep an eye out for this lot coming over
here. Last time I was aware of anything like it was when ELOII were about. I
think Jeff Lynne got his group on tour but I think there was just one or two
gigs in Britain IIRC. I certainly didn't get to see them.
