Oric computers, A mint rant...

Hiya y'all,

(Posting this in this thread, since I did not want to start a new one, and
since we were talking about society in this one anyway....)

The other night, Arianna and I went out to one of our local restaurants to
celebrate the completion of our house repairs. The restaurant is Applebees,
a local chain of "Good American Food" eateries.
We had a very good meal (I had burboun steak, while she had the house steak)
and a good relaxing time.

However, when leaving the restaurant, I went to grab a mint (or five!) from
the bowl that was usually there. To my surprise there was nothing there!!! I
asked one of the doorpeople where the mints were, and received this reply:
"Oh, we no longer serve mints, because someone recently choked on one and
tried to sue us."

Have you ever heard anything so stupid??? (Ok - the woman who sued
McDonald's because of the coffee being hot does come to mind).
What is our society coming to when we can no longer grab a mint as we are
leaving a good restaurant?????

Certain people who are too lazy to do a good days work will look for the
easy way out and in America they have more lawyers than Doctors and there
sole purpose is to sue who ever they can sue to make a quick buck for the
most stupid things.

Its the nanny state! When was it that we the people let Government start to
control and direct each and every aspect of our lives ? Surely Government is
there to help us not control us ? In the so called lands of the free (US/UK
Europe etc) we are not as free as we like to think we are.
