Oric computers >> 65xx library for Eagle

by Euphoric » Fri, 01 Jul 2005 15:28:55 GMT

Hello all,

I am currently designing a 6502 board with Eagle CAD software, and since no 65xx
library is in, I have begun developing one...
For now, I've put in a NMos version of 6502, plus a CMOS version (in DIP and
PLCC packages), and also DIP and PLCC packages of 65816 and 6522.
I plan to add other peripheral chips like the 6551 ACIA, etc.
Anyway, I'm a relatively new user of Eagle, so this first library might not be
perfect, but if this can be of use to someone, don't hesitate to ask...
Ah, I should have asked first: perhaps someone has already built such a library
?

Cheers,

Fabrice

There is a 65xx lib available, it's been around for years. Goto 6502.org and
ask, I can't remember the link right off the top of my head.

http://www.cadsoft.de/cgi-bin/download.pl?page=/home/cadsoft/html_public/download.htm.en&dir=pub/userfiles/libraries

has a 65xxx.lib for download, which contains DIP versions of the C02 and
C816, among other things. However, your should merge your PLCC packages
and re-upload. I'd also like a copy of the PLCC versions.

I don't see a 6522 or 65C22S offered on the LIBs page, so you may be the
first.

I have a 6551 in DIP package completed for EAGLE. Email me for it.

Euphoric, does the library also contain the pinout for the NMOS 6510? I
mean, it's obvious it's a 65xx, but if I recall correctly the 6510 is a
bit... overpinned compared to the 6502 and other derivatives.

Hello Stealth, you're right, there were a lot of 65xx processors with 28 pins
only (and thus limited address space): 6503, 6504, 6505, 6506, 6507, 6513, 6514,
6515...
(the 6507 is best known because it was used in the Atari 2600 console).
But the 6502 is fully 64KB address space, with 40 pins like the 6510, although
the pinout is rather different (the 6510 has 6 I/O pins replacing some
not-so-useful pins of the 6502)
I can add a 6510 device to the library for CBM users if it is of interest to
some people...

Cheers,

Fabrice
