Mac storage hardware >> Maxtor sata cables?

by MultiMac » Mon, 26 Sep 2005 16:40:52 GMT

Hi,

The Sata data cable that came with my Maxtor DiamondMax Plus doesn't
fit into the internal bay plug of my early model 1.8 single G5. Seems
like a "female" plug is needed? And I guess I have to buy my own power
cable too. Can somebody help me with what/where to go to buy these
cables? The Maxtor site isn't any help.

Plz reply to this group only as I'm not comfortable using my actual
e-mail address.

TIA,
Gene

6. Maxtor OneTouch backup software

I have a Maxtor One-Touch III external drive, and I use the MaxBack
software that came with it. As the backup progresses, I see the message
"error copying file" for certain files (but it continues to back up).
When I check those files on the Maxtor, after the backup is finished,
those files are there and they seem perfectly fine. I haven't been able
to find anything in the Help menu for the software, and googling for
information yields nothing so far. Has anyone here noticed this
"problem" when using MaxBack (or other backup software)?

I have an 80 GB Maxtor 1394 external storage device (the model without a
power switch) attached to a Sawtooth upgraded with a gigadesign 1.4 GHz
processor card. 10.3.7. The drive spins down nicely after the interval
specified in the energy saver prefs, but spins up immediately after I
put the computer to sleep and never spins down again. Any remedies?

Thanks in advance,

Dave
