Hello All,
I have a bunch of 2.5" laptop drives (40GB, 4200 and 5400RPM ATA) that
I wanted to use for moving data around.  I just got an external
housing with a FW800 interface and I'm seeing ~3.5MBps on transfers (I
did several tests, a few with 3 8GB files, and a few others with
thousands of small files).  I'm copying from the external housing to
an interal ATA100 80GB drive with an 8MB buffer.  Somehow I expected
better performance than this, but I'm concerned that either the
chipset in the drive housing, or the 2.5" drive itself is limiting
throughput in some way.  Anyone with a similar experience or any
comments would be most appreciated.
