AS/400 >> Problem to connect to IFS

by Christian Schwarz » Thu, 08 Feb 2007 21:29:31 GMT

Hi,

we use V5R2M0 and at the PC Windows XP with SP2. The PC is member in a
domain.
There is an user which called test at the iSeries and at our Domain.

We have an Netserver which is called MEMM and there is a share called BILD

If the password of the user test is uvnepcaks i can take a access to
\\memm\bild .

If the password of the user test is v9OXRs4T there pop up a window. At
this window we should write the user and the password.

Where is the Problem ? I dont want to have an easy password like uvnepcaks.

Kind regards.

Christian

Let me see if I've got this correct.

You have a userid TEST that has been defined both on the iSeries V5R2
and also on your windows Domain.
When using the userid TEST and the password uvnepcaks you can connect
to the share BILD. When, using the userid TEST with password v9OXRs4T,
you try to connect you are asked to supply a different userid and
password.

If I've got this right then I'd say userid TEST pwd uvnepcaks is the
iSeries.
Netserver validates access to the shares using iSeries, not Windows
domain, userids (unless guest access is configured). To logon using
the iSeries userid it has to be in the iSeries directory (WRKDIRE) and
entered into the pop-up as \\netserver_name\iSeries_userid with the
iSeries password.

The user TEST is at the SystemDirectory.
The password at iSeries and at the Domain are the same.

Thanks for your answer.

The main difference I see is that the non-working password for your
test user is mixed case. iSeries Netserver can encounter problems
hashing mixed case passwords with some versions of Windows. See the
following document for information:

Hi,

I am getting error when exporting data from mainframe using db2
connect while i am on db2 on linux.

Here is what error looks like
==============================================================

I also tried running using UR with select and that does not work

Also, tablespace has been defined as locksize any in OS/390.
DB2 should be able to escalate it to tablespace locking.

4. IFS Authority Problem

Hello All,

We have just upgraded to a model 810 from a 720 (both systems on V5R2), and
have a problem with authority in the IFS. Users who have mapped PC drives to
IFS drivespace are unable to access the drives (incorrect password errors! -
not true!), and users who have restricted access to files on the Intranet
(using the default AS/400 Web Server - with files in the IFS) are told they
are un-authorised to the particular Web page.

In all areas where Public access is denied and specific profiles are
authorised - only the Public denial is working!

Any assistance or information will be greatfully received!

Thanks and best regards,

Carl

6. IFS PC temporary files problem

Several Iseries users working on a shared directory on IFS with MS WORD,
are generating temporary files when opening a word document on the shared
directory, even when the document is propertly colsed the *.TMP file remains
in the IFS, and the user cannot delete it via windows explorer but only via
operations navigator.

The users work with Windows XP SP2 and Word 2000 with all available updates

The Iseries runs V5R1M0 with latest PTFs cumulative released the IFS was
once converted to type 2

Any clue or any known incompatibility between IFS shared folders and Windows
XP SP2? Any PTF available ?

Thanks in advance

8. XP iSeries NetServer IFS Problem with Copy Files

Hello,

I am having here a strange problem.

I have installed several PCs with Windows XP Professional. To connect
the AS400 IFS (NetServer) I also installed the Windows Client. I can
login to the iSeries IFS and browse the directories. I can also copy
small Files (600 KB) into the IFS. When trying to copy larger Files (
> 1 MB) I got a message "Cannot copy File xyz: The request is not
supproted" When doing the same thing on a Windows 2000 PC with the
same user it works.

I have searched the IBM Sites but found only a hint regarding a Win XP
Session Timeout parameter, but it had not worked.

Any hint or idea is appreciated.
