This year (2006) sees the 25th Anniversary of BBC BASIC! To celebrate
the occasion I have released a 'facelift' version of 'BBC BASIC for
Windows'. The principal new features are:
+ The Interactive Development Environment now uses Windows XP Visual
Styles, for a more modern appearance.
+ Compiled executables can optionally use Windows XP Visual Styles.
+ The icon chosen for a compiled executable can have any selection of
sizes (e.g. 48x48) and/or colour depths (e.g. 256 colours).
The new version has more than twenty new features in all, including
several BASIC language enhancements. For a full list see:

Upgrades from any previous version of 'BBC BASIC for Windows' are free.

The full version of 'BBC BASIC for Windows' creates compact stand-alone
executables, typically less than 100K. It provides easy access to the
Windows API, allowing you to write complete Windows applications with
ease. For some examples, including compiled executables to try, see:

'BBC BASIC for Windows' is used in many schools and is approved by the
UK Government's 'National Grid for Learning' as a quality assured
educational resource. For more information and to purchase the full
version visit:

BBC BASIC is the language chosen by the BBC (British Broadcasting
Corporation) for their Computer Literacy Project of the early 1980s.
Since then it has been implemented on seven different CPUs and over
twenty platforms. There is also an Open Source version of BBC BASIC
called Brandy. See the Wikipedia article:
