1. Powerbasic, Visual Basic or other?
Hi, I grew up programming on Vic20, C64, MBasic, & Apple 2E programming then dabled in Qbasic. Haven't used Qbasic for a while but managed to get it to work under XP, but it seems pretty dinosaurish and my brain is rusty. I've been doing a little PLC programming, and now am starting to get into WinCC & SCARDA systems. Now I need to write a 3D space mapping program for a role playing game so the players can see exactly where they are and how far to Star Z from Star X. I was looking at Powerbasic, it seems to be good from the website. Visual Basic may be more useful for work though, is it any good for this, from what I can gather it's more networking biased perhaps not really a Basic programming language at all. Dark Basic & Blitzbasic might also do this too I suspect, but I'm looking for something easy to use that isn't riddled with quirks either.A built in compiler would also be the Ace too. I don't mind paying the cash for a decent tool for the job and may even be able to claim it on tax anyway. And I belive to an extent you get what you pa for, so not really interested in shareware etc. Thx in advance for reading my old fart / noob post, Pat
