RenderMan & RISpec >> Layering Ensembles?

by shefali joshi » Tue, 05 Jul 2005 05:03:15 GMT

Hi,

I'm trying to layer 2 ensembles. I found the "Layer" shader, but it only
allows layering AdditiveFX nodes.
Basically I want to have 2 layers and each layer has a
color, transparency and Bump to it. Since ensemble allows displacements,
I used 2 layers of ensembles. but now I'm at a loss as to how I can
layer these.

Is there a way to layer Ensembles?

Thanks.

Im sorry to tell you that there is no way to layer ensembles in slim.
The reason for this is that ensembles take a surface and a displacement
(plus other shader types) and assigns them to your geometry.

Every piece of geometry can have only one surface and one displacement
shader at the time, so if you where allowed to layer ensembles you
would end up with more than one surface and displacement shader.

You can use the layer template to layer the surface shaders. For the
displacement one you will have to use the combine displacement
template.

Good luck!

1. layers in alpha mask layer?

2. crop leaves background image (or layer) and must manually pick "fit canvas to layers"

Hi -

I must have changed some mode or such, and can't figure out what is
different.

Previously, crops would resize the image to the crop size.

Now, after cropping, a background image (or layer) is left, keeping the
image size the same.

Trying to save it gives the message "JPEG can't handle transparency".

I have to manually select the image -> fit canvas to layers, then it looks
and saves.

Is there some mode I can set to always "fit canvas to layers" after a
crop?

I have searched and looked and found nothing so far :-(

Thanks ...

Hi All,

I have created 3 layers one an image and the other two text images

Layers
1) Image
2) First Name Text
3) Second Name Text

On Saving , Closing GIMP and reopening the GIMP with the same xcf
file .. I noticed there werent
any layers shown in the layers box.

Please let me know if this is the expected behaviour.
If yes, please let me know how can I edit layers going forward from
the file i have now.

8. Layer comp / selection from multiple layers

Hi, folks:

I'd like to ask for some advice: I'm using Photoshop CE. I have some
work consisting of about 10 layers. I want to select a particular
shape that is composed on several layers - parts of it are on one
layer, parts on another, etc. Fortunately, it is all nearly the same
hue.

I tried to read up on Comp layers, but the manual and help seemed to
be a little terse. Can I create a Comp layer and then select the
shape from it? Or is there a better approach? (For now, I saved the
image under another name, flattened it, and made the selectio.)

TIA,
