Just thought I'd drop by and say thanks to all the people who tried to
help me with my internet problems. AAARGH!!!! I almost missed
turning in my HUGE psych paper, and Kenna was suffering from
nickjr.com withdrawals ;). I finally just gave up and switched (in
case you were wondering, it's Comcast 19.99 for 6 months, 75 bucks
cash back and a free modem http://specials.comcastoffers.com). The
guy I talked to said the online place was the only way to get the free
modem. Anyway, it's fast!!!! I downloaded a coloring book for Kenna
in like 2 secs. Thanks again, time to study. KM

[TELECOM Digest Editor's Note: You are correct; I stand corrected and
apologize. Now and again spam does get through. PAT]

2. Media player says I am not connected to the internet when I am

Hi,

Hope somebody can help me here, I ripped a couple of CD's today but Media
Player 11 beta was unable to find the CD info as it said I was not connected
to the internet, neither did the online tab work.

I checked that "Work Offline" was not ticked in the File Menu.

I assumed it was a problem with the Beta so I followed Microsoft's roll back
instructions on their support page and now I am back to Media Player 10.
When I right click an unknown music file and select find album info, I get
the same error message that "You must be connected to the internet to get
album info". I am connected to the internet and I am posting this question
lol.

Can anybody help??

P.s. for info the Media Guide is giving me the same message also.

Thanks Sean

By 'it' I meant NIS 2009, not just the product protection thingy.

5. ***Correction to correction *** Can't get rid of phantom computer on home network - Windows XP Network

6. am at a loss - no internet connection

ok i have an odd problem. worse thing is i am not good with this
internet network stuff.

i moved into this place a year ago and could not connect to the
ethernet there with my computer. had several people look at it to no
avail. it just mysteriously would not let me access the internet even
though it showed i was connected.

borrowed a family member's mac laptop, that connected just fine, but i
had to give it back right away.

borrowed another desktop pc from parents and that connected with
ethernet just fine. used it for a few months....then lost the connection
when the line i was connected to was changed to wireless. i could not
connect to that with the same computer even though it was setup for
wireless.

i then borrowed a toshiba notepad (i do not have the funds to buy new
computers) which connected to the wireless just fine.

then the other day, while i was surfing the web, it lost the
connection, permanently. the wireless connection in the main house that
i am connecting to has never been disturbed throughout this whole thing.

i have tried connecting to other networks but it won't connect to
anything now, anywhere. it did before.

i have no idea what happened. this problem has been going for so long
and i have asked in so many places but i either don't get any responses
or i get ones that i don't understand because i only know some of the
internet lingo and then they lose patience with me...but i am going to
keep trying because i really miss having internet.
