telecom >> SIP and TAPI

I'm sorta new to the VoIP standards.

I see there is SIP and H.323. As I understood it H.323 was a video
teleconfrencing standard. Reading more I see that it can also be used
to do an IP to PSTN session. I have found Microsofts TAPI 3.0 and I
am wondering if I need to study SIP in detail as well or is TAPI
sufficient?

It depends on what you want to do. If you are only going to be working
in the Micro$oft Windoze world, TAPI may suffuce for a lot of
things. But TAPI is not a protocol, it's an API. If you are looking to
write VOIP software, TAPI won't do it for you. You need to decide
whether your VOIP will use SIP or H.323, and learn one of those. MOST
emerging VOIP applications seem to be using SIP, but there are
exceptions. The Inter-tel PBX VOIP phone sitting on my desk right now,
for instance, uses H.323. More recent versions of the same phone,
however, offer a choice between h.323 and SIP.

Hi Group

We try to connect internal sip phones to a provider on an outside
provider. I play arround with the inspect sip.

When inspect sip is set, a can do an outgoing call, but when i call
this phone, it rings, i pick it up, but i can't hear the other end.
With no inspect sip, it's vice versa.

Just for trying, i give an "access-list like access-list
outside_access_in extended permit ip any any", but nothing change.

I found some hints with a STUN Server, but my provider does't have
STUN Servers.

Any idea, where i must looking for the right way?

4. Dialogic, TAPI and ISDN configuration?

Does anyone know with absolute certainty whether a Dialogic T1 card
like the D/240 can work in ISDN mode through it's TAPI TSP or not? I
see lots of references to people asking the question, but no one
answering for sure. Many of us can get T1 robbed bit to work, but
what about ISDN? Thanks.

5. Any Tapi Experts?

6. Using TAPI with VBA

First, sorry for the cross post, I just am not sure the best place to post
this....

I am looking for info on how to use TAPI (more specifically "Phone Dialer
1.50" that comes with Windows XP) from Outlook and Excel.
What I am specifically looking for (Right now) is how to make a call, then
"FLASH" and how to "DISCONNECT" so that phone dialer logs can keep track of
my call times/length

Thanks
Phil

7. Anyone used Tapi with a CTIA

8. BCM and TAPI

One of my customers has just got a BCM with v3.6. It is connected to
their NT network and LAC CTE has been installed on Windows 2000
workstations. Personal Call Manager works fine with the right call
popping up the right screen.

But they don't want to use PCM. They use an Access 97 program written
by me and they want it to do the following:

1. Make an outgoing call when a user clicks on a client records phone
number field

2. Using CallerID info, bring up a clients record when they call in if
it can find a match.

I'm sure this is standard stuff, but not to me. Can someone please
point me in the right direction as to where do I start and what do I
need to do.

TIA
Dave
