### solidworks >> Decimal places

Is there a trick to seeing more decimal places with the Measure tool while
not affecting the decimal places in the rest of the design?

Also, how do you measure from a random point (not a vertex) on an edge,
surface or simply free space to another?

Thanks

You can change the displayed precision in the measure box. Random point, I
don't know - sorry. My best suggestion would be to put a sketch point there
and measure to that.

It had to be that simple...

Is it possible in SWX2004 (or 05/06) to specify the number of decimal places
or significant figures that a property is displayed to?
e.g. my part's mass (displayed on a drawing by linking the property) is
being displayed as 1801.15g ......just a tad too accurate for me.

I suppose this question applies to any numerical property value you wish to
display on a drawing. Is there a way to perform mathematical operations
(e.g. INT, ROUND etc) on a property?
I've tried adding "/1000" at the end of the expression to change it to kg,
but it just treats it as a string.

TIA

2004 Go into the part, bring up the mass property tool, go to options,
reduce the significant digits, save the part or assembly and go back to
the drawing. Should be fixed. This is pretty lame and I think it is
fixed but don't quote me on that.

```Hi
I wrote a lisp routine to get the area of a polyline in autocad placed
into an attribute. I use rtos to get decimal places rounded to 1,2,3
or 4 decimals. Everything works fine exept for strings ending with
zero.
Is it possible to force a string to decimal places? e.g 4.00 instead
of 4
Any suggestions welcome.
```Hi,

I have computed angles in equations and linked the results to multple
feature drafts - due to the nature of the the draft it needs to run out
to system tolerance or in sw's case 8 decimal places. However, the
returned result from the equation is rounded to 6 decimal places
regardless of the unit settings (for degress or distance (both are set
to 8 in this part)).

Hence for any work requiring accuracy past 6 decimal places equations
cannot be used. Unless I've missed an option somewhere?

```Hi,
Up to now drawimgs have behaved as expected.  When I changed the
number of dec places to be displayed from 2 to less then the nominal
value in dim properties greyed out without affecting the model.
Now I'm finding that reducing the dec places changes the nominal
value and displays the dim in white requiring a regen.  I only want
to change the display, with the ability to Restore Values.
Does anyone know why this should be happening?
Thanks.
```i have mass parameters calculated as follows:

/*
/* CALCULATE THE MASS_* VALUES
/*
mass_kg = mp_mass("")
mass_lb = mass_kg / .4536
/*
/* END MASS_* RELATIONS

they result in 2 decimal place numbers. how do i change the number of
decimal places shown?

thanks
