solidworks >> Problem-Opening drawings 2005 SP0.1

by Michael Eckstein » Fri, 31 Dec 2004 04:49:43 GMT

FYI & Beware!!
I have allot of molds & multi-sheet mold drawings that were designed in SWX
2004 and before. I upgraded to 2005 sp0.1 and now I am only able to open
about 1 in 5 of the mold drawings. Error: Solidworks encountered a problem
opening document BLA BLA BLA. Bang: CTD. I sent one of them to the VAR and
they confirmed the problem in 2005, opened fine in 2004. They have forwarded
to SWX.
I don't know if it is a BOM problem or what. Assemblies and parts open fine
with the exception of some seemingly permanent rebuild symbols in
assemblies.

Good Luck

recently after some updates to Windows XP SP2, I found out that solidworks
2005 SP0.0 refuses to load - the message comes from the operating system a
while after the start-up logo appears, claiming: sldwrks.exe was unable to
load, we are sorry for the inconvenience ... bla, bla, bla something in a dll
solidworks using with allot of hexadecimal stuff I don't understand. so I
uninstalled it, and reinstalled it - but in vain. afterwards, I uninstalled
it and installed the old SW 2004 and it worked ok - so at the bottom line
the question is - what am I missing? what does windows XP SP2 likes in 2004
that it doesn't like in 2005?

any explanation or sharing of similar experience and insights will be highly
appreciated,

4. Insert forming tool fails (2005 sp0.0 and 0.1)

I'm trying to insert the louver that comes with Solidworks and when I
drag it over from the Design Library to a simple plate that I've
already added the Sheet-Metal feature to, I get the following error:
"Are you trying to make a derived part?"

If I say Yes, then it starts the derived part process (bad). If I say
No then it simply opens the louver in it's own window. At no time do I
get the preview that I recall seeing in 2004.
Anyone know what stupid mistake I'm making here?
