Windows Vista >> Vista Business x86 to Vista Business x64

Hello, I am on a Microsoft Windows Vista Business x86 SP1 system and I would
like to move up to a Microsoft Windows Vista Business x64 SP1 system, that I
have ready to go. I have used and LOVE the Migwiz.exe or Microsoft Easy
Transfer or Migration Wizard, and I wonder how I can get it to work going
from x86 to x64? I can obviously copy my stuff one at a time, folder by
folder, but if the system can do it for me, that would be great!
Thank you.

Matt

Windows Vista >> Vista Business x86 to Vista Business x64

If the transfer wizard works between XP and Vista, then between Vista x86
and Vista x64 should be even easier. I've never done it and no expert, but
can't see why it wouldn't work.

Have you attempted to do so, and run into problems, or are you just asking
"is it possible" to do?

The fact that your two O/S are vista business is probably a plus, even
though the difference is 32 bit/64 bit.

I bought my SonyVaio Notebook Computer (VGN-SZ57N, with 1GB of Ram) coming
with an Vista Business installed, I can't work with its poor performance, so
I bought / installed another new 4GB(2x2GB) Ram to replace the original 1GB
of Ram(Product Spec. told that it support 4GB of Ram). As a result I
realized both the Bios and Vista the OS seeing only 3GB(actually 3070MB)
Physical Memory. I google around and I heard about Hardware's lacking of
remapping feature and Software's 32 bit OS limitation issues, but I hope I
still can hear someone here told me that this is an deadend for getting my
current computer to see and work with 4GB of Ram.

Please let me know whether this is a motherboard limitation or this is a
matter of 32bit versions of Windows, any explaination... Thanks so much for
your kindly help, I just felt sick of keeping search on this topic and I
think I can accept all of this if this is a matter of time (People told me
SP1 could solve all of this) or money (They told me I should upgrade to
64bit Vista Ultimate to work 4GB Ram). Hey, anyway thanks again, have a nice
day. :)

8. Vista Business SP1 (x86) hangs at random

I installed Vista Business a few months ago on my Acer 9420 laptop and it was
working without any major problems. Since installing SP1 I now get a random
hang whilst using the computer. The application in use (usually Firefox 2)
will stop responding completely but I can move the mouse and click on other
apps on the taskbar and bring them up, but they don't respond to clicks,
although the close/minimise/maximise buttons will highlight. No key presses
work, Ctrl-Alt-Del also does not work. I've been running with Task Manager
loaded and can see no sign of the computer being CPU or memory bound (2GB
installed). The only way out is to power off. I've left it up to 45 minutes
without getting conytrol back. Thsi can happen once or twice in a day, and
sometimes not at all. The computer is on for at least 8 hours per day with
IE7, FF2, ActiveSync, Outlook2007 & Thunderbird 2 loaded. It can happen
without FF2 running, in which case it is usually IE7 that shows the first
symptoms, such as failing to respond when a button on a webpage is clicked.
After a few clicks or keypresses there is no more response other than the
ability to move the mouse pointer around the screen. I'm always on WiFi with
WPA-PSK when it happens. There was nothing like this before SP1. Killing
Windows Search has reduced the frequency of the problem, although it is now
back to at least twice a day again. All current patches are installed
including a new graphics driver from the Acer site. The problem occurs with
& without ActiveSync running and with the WM6 device attached or not (via
USB).
