Has anybody been able to successfully play multiplayer lan games between an
xp box and a vista box?

I have tried it with Age of Empires II and Total Annihilation. Both games
play fine on single player but I can not launch a multiplayer game.

The two machines are networked through my router and are sharing an internet
connection and a printer. They can see each others shares no problem. I can
access files on either computer in either direction using file explorer.

But when I create a multiplayer game on either machine and try to connect to
it from the other machine I can not connect. I can see the game on the other
machine and the game tries to connect but eventually times out. The symptoms
are the same whether I create a game on the vista machine or on the xp
machine.

Has anybody else had this problem? Or rather, I should say has anybody been
able to successfully game over their lan with a vista machine and an xp
machine?

5. Vista Updates Killing My Multiplayer game

Here thes thing, I play a multiplayer game called Freelancer created by
microsoft. The game will work fine and I will be able to connect to the
multiplayer servers. If I install the updates then for some reason I can no
longer connect to the mp servers even if I disable the firewall.
Anyone have any suggestions, right now I am refusing the updates cause I
have installed Vista like 5 times already because of this problem.

7. Multiplayer Games on XP Embedded

I'm a arcade game developer and I'm using XPe as platform.
I've created a XPe image and the game doesn't connect to server, but
I've tested with 2 PCs with XP Pro and the game runs perfectly.

I think that some XPe components has missing, because the system shows
a message box with this message "Cannot find firewall".

Thanks for everyone
