I have Vista Ultimate. From where can i see that Directx9 is installed on my PC.
The Dxdiag command mentions only D10.
And another q is if i can have D9 and D10 both without problems?
Thank you.
i downloaded directX 9.0c and installed it, nothing went wrong and my reboot went just fine. But after that restart, my DirectX version is still 9.0b i have tried several times, the update doesn't seem to work at all

3. Integrating directshow video playback in a directx9 game engine
Hi. I'm currently working on integrating avi playback into my company's engine and I need some advice about the best way to do it. We currently have a video for windows (vfw) solution in place, but it is slow and doesn't have a good range of compatibility. Recently I've been looking into DirectShow and VMR9 in particular. None of the possible solutions I have come up with are perfect for our needs. VMR9 seems like the best solution but would require us to have a multi-threaded d3d device, this is a problem because we lose 5-15% of our d3d performance just for switching that on. Also, we are inexperienced with thread safety. I am currently using the 'Allocator' sample in the dshow sdk as a reference. The frame grabber suffers the same drawbacks, but would require us to write a software blit routine. The IMediaDet system could remove the dependency on threads, as we can extract one frame at a time, explicitly, in our render loop. Again, this requires a software blit to get the image into our engine. So my ideal solution would be a VMR9 based graph that I can use to extract a frame at a time without the need for threading. It was also suggested that I could render the movie on a seperate (multi threaded) d3d device then software blit onto textures in the main device, which isn't multi threaded. Any advice in this would be greatly appreciated.
4. Integrating directshow video playback in a directx9 game engin
I just installed ASUS GeForce4 Ti4200 128MB video card into my PC, and while installing the drivers, it installed directX9. This seems to be messing up some/most of my games and I need to uninstall it so I can go back to directX8.1. How do I uninstall directX9??? Thanks
