When I try to start the game a message pops up saying that it can't find the
spooge driver. It says that DirectX is not installed and i know it is. Just
wondering if anyone knows what to do about it.

Try downloading the DX9 from Microsoft. When you install DX9, it updates
some components that are included with Vista. This needs to be done for a
lot of DX9 games, for some reason.

I am having the same problem, I downloaded the DX9 but it still says spooge
driver not found, any other ideas?

Symptoms: Game won't start, error message stating that "spooge driver not
found, verify that directX is installed" is displayed.

Problem: Your graphics card is not being initialized correctly by the game.

Possible solutions:
Before you start your own "spooge driver" thread, please try the following
three things.

1. Make sure that your card can actually run Dawn of War. Here's an
(incomplete) list:

Cards that will run Dawn of War
-ATI Radeon 8500 and above
-Nvidia Geforce 2 and above

Cards that will not run Dawn of War
-Intel integrated graphics chips
-S3 chip family of integrated cards
-Matrox Parhelia family

Note that there are a few exceptions.
Remember, you need a card that is Hardware T&L capable.


2. Update your video card drivers. This is the number one most common fix
for this problem. The latest versions of the video drivers can be downloaded
here ( http://www.ati.com/support/driver.html ) for ATI cards and here
( http://www.nvidia.com/content/drivers/drivers.asp ) for nvidia.

3. Check if your mainboard chipset drivers are installed and up to date.
We've seen quite a few cards running in PCI mode due to the chipset drivers
not being installed or totally out of date. This really slows your cards
down.

If you can't find your problem adressed in a thread, create a new one.
Create it in the Dawn of War Technical Assistance Forum. Please include the
warnings.log and the dxdiag.txt in your first post (see how to find those
files here ( http://forums.relicnews.com/showthread.php?t=41632 )) along with
a clear description of your problem.

Anyone else try the demo? I did and wasn't impressed by the new race, though
having just watched some of the videos out there, the other new race the
necrons (yes they had to have an undead race) seems to be the more
interesting of the two. The Tau just seem to be a race of primarily shooters
with little in the way of close combat ability.

What I really want to know though, when are we going to get the Tyranids? To
me playing either marines or imperial gaurd with minis, the opponent that
really inspired fear was the Tyranids with their genestealers. They are the
race that I am waiting for. I wonder if Westwood or their current owners
came down and threatened lawsuits, even though starcraft rips off a lot of
the WH40K universe.

Hi everyone,

i had DOW installed on vista and the expansion, winter assault and both 
appeared in my games folder with their "album art" and all that stuff, but i 
uninstalled them both and installed the game of the year edition and dark 
crusade
and only winter assault appeared in the folder.
I dragged the other two in, but they dont download any "artwork"
Whats up?
can i fix it?
