games >> ADD more XBOX controller functionality

by QnJpYW4 » Wed, 06 Feb 2008 12:05:02 GMT

I am the new owner of the XBOX 360 wireless dongle and wireless gamepad.

The gamepad is an excellent piece of hardware, but I expected a lot more
software support/integration with Vista (beyond games). The wireless gamepad
doesn't even show up in Control Panel under Game Controllers.

I would really like to see media center integration *skip scene, volume....,
and the ability to map buttons to the controller so I can play older games
too.

I would appreciate force feedback support in the controller with a PC
also..>I just spend over $90 on this setup and all it does is allow me to use
controls for Crysis.

ALSO POSTED IN XP GEN. DISCUSSION 1/14 & 15/05:

After updating my Intel 82810E graphics controller
driver, display settings/advanced no longer allows
me to change the color mgt. ('gamma, brightness,
etc.') settings (the options are no longer appear in
advanced mode);
- Windows Me upgraded to XP
- Intel 82810E Graphics Controller ver. 4.12.01.2576
updated to ver. 6.3.0.1007 (MS Corp. - XP version).

When I try to 'roll back' or manually change the
driver back to the original (Me) version, Windows
warns me that XP is not a supported OS and will not
allow it. I obtained & used the newest driver DL from
the Intel site which is when I got 'stuck' with the XP
version update in the first place.

When I boot in Me (I have XP on D:/ and Me on C:/)
I can still change the settings with the older driver
loaded, but not so in XP with the newer driver.
I am perplexed as to why such a 'standard'
functionality would be missing from an update.??
Any thoughts will be appreciated - I have my monitor
brightness/ contrast settings maxed-out and it is still
too dim. - Ron

4. Adding serial game controller

My mother has a new computer that was preinstalled with Windows Vista
(UGH!!!!!!) and we have installed a sound card with a game/serial port that
we are needing to use for a foot pedal. Windows shows the unsupported
generic game port and it says that it is working properly. But if you go
into the game controller option on the Control panel, it doesn't show the
unsupported game controller to even be able to choose as an option. I know
in previous Windows that you could set up a generic game port and utilize it
with only as that. Does anyone have a solution on how to resolve this so
that we can see the game port under the game controller. Do we need to try
to get a different driver? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. In
previous Windows, it would not have taken days to get this set up.

Thanks,
Shona

6. No "ADD" in Game controllers?

Installed my xp pro 64 bit and as expected a lot of stuff didnt work or
required tweaking to work... I have been able to get most everything working
however I cant even begin to start installing my game controller even as a
generic because when in control panel, clicking on game controllers brings up
the game controller window and none are listed, and I have two buttons,
troubleshoot and advancedf. Advanced brings up another window showing a pull
down menu for preferred device listing none. Theres no "add" anywhere in the
loop even in troubleshooting which tells me to open up game controllers and
clicking on the non-existant "add" selection... How am I supposed to add the
controller?

8. Trouble with gameport and adding game controllers on WinXP64

Hi, thanks for your attention.

I just installed Windows XP 64-Bit edition, and downloaded the 64 bit
drivers for my soundblaster live soundcard. Now device manager recognizes the
hardware fine, and I get sound again on my PC. It recognizes the creative
gameport, and an "unsupported gameport" which i suppose is the one that comes
with my motherboard.

I'm trying to connect a Sidewider force feedback pro to the gameport on my
soundblaster card. When I go to game controllers in control panel, there isnt
anywhere an "add" button to install the sidewinder controller. Neither could
I install the controller directly from the add hardware wizard.

The strange thing is that the creative gameport is installed, recognized
under device manager, but still "game controllers" applet in Control Panel
seems to ignore this.

Any suggestions?
Thanks!
PS. Tried disabling onboard audio and gameport on BIOS. "Unsupported
gameport" is gone from device manager, but I still can't add anything on game
controllers applet in control panel.
