MS Office Setup >> "Microsoft Office Setup Bootstrapper has encountered a problem and needs to close" ???!

by ITM » Sat, 19 Jul 2003 18:45:20 GMT

I get this when I try to install Office XP pro on a new Toshiba
Portege 2010 laptop with Windows XP Pro pre-installed. If I try to
install using PROPLUS.MSI I get past the first few installation
screens, then it crashes at the "preparing to install" stage
("Installation ended prematurely because of an error").

Just prior to attempting this I had mistakenly tried to install Office
2000 Premium instead (I assume that this isn't compatible with XP
Pro?). I'm not sure if this had any effect on things.

Has anyone seen this message before, or does could anyone suggest
anything to try?

TIA

Ian

Hi,

we have recently upgraded from Office 2003 to Office 2007. Our users
are using some Excel files created in Excel 2003. These files contain
some code in VBA.
There is a CLOSE button on the form and when they hit on that close
button excel is araising the following exception. The code behind
close button is simple (ActiveWorkbook.Close SaveChanges:=False).

"Microsoft Office Excel has encountered a problem and needs to close.
We are sorry for the inconvenience."

I dont get this error when 2003 is used.

How can I solve this problem?

Thanks

6. Microsoft Office Access has encountered a problem and needs to close

I have an Access 2003 database that fails with "Microsoft Office Access has
encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the
inconvenience." when a certain form is attempted to be displayed. This form
is part of another form containing a tab control.

This has become difficult to track down because if I insert a break point at
the beginning of the "Enter" event so as to walk thru the code it doesn't
fail. I can also put a MsgBox at the beginning of the Enter event and it
won't fail.

Any ideas on how to track down the root of the problem? I have decompiled
the database and also created a new database and imported all of the objects
into the new one but nothing helped.
