WAV - this is the only format that can be embedded.
Than MP3, WMA, MIDI - all of them are only linked and never embedded. WMA
and MP3 can be protected with DRM what foils them to play on another
computer.
M4P from iTune can be played when inserted as object, but they need another
player than Powerpoint uses and they are protected. So you better use them
on your own computer only and convert them to MP3 when you want to use them
somewhere else.

Accroding of your discription, maybe you want to cut off your music
file.

Solutions for you :
The one method is go to download.com Type 'virtual dj' then chooses
one of the lists below the selections you have it. You can cut songs
and videos!
Another method just checks it out below:
http://www.movielcd.com/video-editing/how-to-cut-video-and-edit/

And you are also want to know how to make your music file played
automatically. It depends the powerpoint version you are uesd :
But first of all, you need make sure your music file is mp3 or WAV
format that can be accepted by power point. Then youcan follow these
steps below :
If you have PowerPoint 2007:
1>insert the music file:
go to insert >sound>Select Sound from File ...choose the sound which
you want ,Click OK and a message prompts, saying How do you want the
sound to start in the slide show? Click Automatically.
2>Set up the effect of the sound:
1. click animations tab, then click the custom animation, you can see
a pop-up window.
2. Click the sound file that you want to set, Click the drop down
arrow of the music item you just added from the Custom Animation list
and select Effect Options.
3. A window named Play Sound displays. Select After and then set the
total number of slides .Now when you select OK and exit the custom
animation box, your sound will continue to play.

If you have PowerPoint 2003:
1>insert the music file:
click the sound icon to display the Options tab. Click on the tab,
and set Play across slides for Play Sound.
2>Set up the effect of the sound:
1.right click on the icon in your presentation and select "Custom
Animation."
2. There will be a section for "Effect" with the option to stop
playing after X slides.
3. Set the number of slides for the sound to play here. Now when you
select OK and exit the custom animation box, your sound will continue
to play.

1. Problem Adding Music- Help Please.

I am creating a Power Point slide show and there are three songs that I want
to play during specific slides. The first song plays as I have directed it to
(slides 1-23), however the second song ( want it to play from slides 24-43)
keeps on playing past the slide that I have told it to play up to (past 43+).
The third song comes in and overlaps with the second song. I have reviewed
the slides over and over again and I can't seem to find the problem. Any
suggestions on why this is happening and what I can do to fix this problem?

3. HELP NEEDED WITH PLAYING MUSIC ON SHOW

Hi,

I am having a problem with my PP show. I have set up all my custom
animations, timings, slide transitions eyc, and when played the show
is fine, it does what it is supposed to do.

The problem comes when I add an Mp3 music track to slide one. I set
it to play automatically as opposed to clicking to start. I also set
it in custom animations to the first item in the list on slide one in
order that when the show starts the music comes in straight away.

This appears to be where the problem starts. The music plays, the
first piece of text animates and then nothing else happens, the rest
of the animations freeze, despite being selected to start 'after
previous' in the animation list.

If I delete the music icon, the small speaker symbol, then the show
plays fine again.

Any ideas what's going wrong here, and instructions on how to add
music to a show would be very much appreciated, as I need this show
for a piece of Uni coursework which will be marked as an assessment.

Thanks.

5. A Little Help - Power Point With Music And Voice Comments

Do not know if I am pushing the edge of Power Point or not.

Would like to generate a slide show to go on a CD or a DVD (different paths
for different media????)

Would like to have continuous music play during the show; however, I would
like to have individual voice comments for each slide.

Be this a real job.

How about if I drop the music and just stick with individual slide voice
comments.

Want to control the slides (i.e.) backward and forward.

Am I pushing the edge of the envelope.
