by RW1Db21w » Tue, 12 Apr 2005 22:58:03 GMT

I am preparing a PowerPoint presentation and am trying to insert an existing
Excel file as a slide. The Excel file includes two graphs. I tried copy and
paste, but the data is a mess when pasted over to Power Point.

Try this. Copy the Excel file then go to the PPT file and use EDIT > PASTE
SPECIAL Select the Microsoft Office Excel Worksheet Object

Porting data from Excel to PowerPoint is a common task. After all,
PowerPoint can even total a column of numbers. If you do this often
working with many different xls and ppt files, you should check out a
try-before-you-buy tool at www.xpport.com. It can port a multi-page
spreadsheet to multiple slides in one step or even your entire
workbook.

This was so helpful. I too was struggling for hours trying all the different
help tools but none of them explained it how you did.
It worked!
Thanks

That's the way embedded or linked spreadsheets are *supposed* to work.

A few options:

If you need the information to remain editable:

Select just the information you want to share then copy/paste it into a new
workbook. Copy/Paste (optionally link) the information from there into PPT.

Otherwise:

Copy from Excel and Paste Special into PPT as WMF, EMF or PNG.
Or
Select the information in Excel, hold down the Shift key and choose Edit, Copy as
Picture before pasting into PPT.

I am trying to insert part of an excel worksheet in PPT. When I past special
the entire worksheet is copied over. I want to only paste what is needed from
the sheet.
Any suggestions? Also, once the specific data is pasted and I double-click
to edit, the entire worksheet appears again. Got any ideas??

Are you asking how to open and edit the Excel file during a presentation?
That's a completely different set of steps.

If that's what you're after, holler back and I (or someone) will post
instrux.

Hello,

I was wondering if there was a way to create a macro that will copy
Excel charts (within their own sheets) into an existing powerpoint
file. The titles and other formatting are already created in the
powerpoint file the only thing I need to do is copy the charts from
excel and paste them as Picture(Enhanced Metafile) in the powerpoint
file. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

8. Easy way to update existing 2003 powerpoint file with a new templa

We have a lot of existing PowerPoint 2003 files, built on a corporate
template. The corporate template has just been changed and updated but we
have also moved to Office 2007.

In 2003 it was easy to add a new template to an existing PowerPoint, or to
insert the slides from existing Powerpoint into a new template, with just one
click. We are now all struggling to find an easy way to achieve this in
Powerpoint 2007 - and have not managed to find anything in the online help
and training? The only reliable way found at the moment is to do it painfully
one slide at a time.

Can anyone point us to the simple easy way which we are sure exists in 2007
to replace an existing template?
