When you get any Office Mac window size and location "correct" for you, every time you re-open the file, you have to resize the window. Even Entourage always has this small size reduction on all sides. It is most irritating in Excel/PowerPoint/Word, where it is impossible to save a full screen window.

I searched for a fix for this issue, but there was only one post with no response. Can't believe this isn't bothering some other people too. Just want a way to retain window size and placement.

Are you using the OS X "Spaces" feature? If so that would explain it.

Generally, Office documents reopen at the same size they were when last open
& changes were saved. Document windows, however, will always be positioned
in the upper left because that's dictated by the OS. However, when you
create a new document or open an existing file after having resized another
doc window - even if it is no longer open - the newly opened window will be
the same width as the last.

I also have this problem although I have Word 2004 (and OS 10.5.7).
I always have to resize my document and Word never remembers.

I've set a macro so that I can at least resize more easily but I'd like Word
to remember.

Spaces isn't set up on my computer.

Every time I open a ppt doc, the window opens to a default size and location: most of the screen. It does not remember the window size and location that a doc had when it was saved.

This means that the window needs be be resized and relocated every time I open a ppt doc. This is inconvenient because I often work with a number of different docs at once.

Is there a way to either
(i) get Powerpoint to remember the window size and location a doc has when it is saved, or
(ii) set the default window size and location to what I want.

this question was never fully answered in a previous thread. How can I keep the size of PowerPoint windows constant whenever I open a doc? I'd like it to remember the size it was when I last closed it but this doesn't happen. It maxes out in the screen. thanks....

7. Mac Word 2008 keeps screwing up my page sizes

I am having a problem where no matter what I do, I end up with pages that
have huge unprintable areas (like a bottom margin of 3.5"). I have trashed
the Normal file, and it gets reconstructed when I create a new document. I
choose Page Setup, US Letter. When I try to set margins where the bottom
margin is 1", Word says that that is too big for the current page size, and
asks to set it to that size. The new value is 3.5", which is way too big.

I was having a similar problem yesterday, where no matter what I did, my
page size was 12" x 16", with really weird margins.

I am running Microsoft Office 2008 on a 2 GHz DP Mac G5, Leopard 10.5.2, 2
GB RAM, Word version 12.0.1. Is this a known problem? Is there something I
can do? It's driving me nuts.
