powerpoint >> Going from PC to Mac with PowerPoint?

by pete » Thu, 23 Apr 2009 11:14:44 GMT

I'm going to be working on a project in PowerPoint (I think 2002) on a
Mac. Most of my PPT work has been on a PC, although i am familiar with
the general Mac OS interface.

Can anyone give me any high level advice about what to watch out for
on the Mac side (i.e. commonly used functions and menus, etc. that are
very, very different on the Mac side?). Just a general sense of what
to expect would be awesome.

As Descartes said, just before disappearing in a small puff of smoke, I
think not.

2002 is a Windows PPT version.

Mac'd be 2001, X, 2004, 2008.

There's something to be said for consistency, but someone else will have
to say it. :-)

Double check that version ... if you come back with questions, you'll
want to mention the version, update level and Mac OS version.

If you're in the habit of dragging pictures into PPT or copy/pasting
them in, that's a VERY good habit to back out of. On both platforms.
Use Insert, Picture, From File instead.

ISSUE 1:
I created several powerpoint presentations on a pc.
When i move over to mac the background image for my support page
slides (created in photoshop as a .jpeg) is gone.
NOTE: In pc, created one master consisting of two slides (one for the
initial page, another for all supporting pages.)
I only see black on my mac powerpoint slides for the supporting pages.
The initial page graphic shows fine.
If i highlight the text on all the support pages, i can then see it.
Can anyone teell me why is this happening and what can i do to
correct.

ISSUE 2:
All the presentations i have created have the audio/video elements
pointing to my "c" drive on the pc. Since there is no drive "c" on the
mac, the files do not function. How do i embed and/or re-point the
audio/video now that they are on the mac. Since i have created several
presentations with multiple page audio/video files, i would love to
see a fix that will not require that i re-point/re-install all audio/
video files if possible.

I thought that saving a presentation in Package includes a viewer.

5. PowerPoint narration recorded on PC runs on Mac but not PC

I record narrations to ppt files with Office 2003 on a PC using the 'Record
Narration' option in the 'Slide Show' menu. I use the link option to store
the audio Wave files in the same folder as the ppt file. This works, and I
can listen to the Wave files individually using iTunes. Viewing the ppt in
slide Show with narrations on my PC works with some ppt files, however, but
not others although these other files play successfully on a Mac with OS-10.
