powerpoint >> Custom Slide Transition Times

Hi there,

I am wondering if anyone has experience with changing the global
variables for slide transition lengths.

I would like to be able to set a longer transition period than what is
provided -- maybe even do something like specify a time -- so 10
seconds or something like that.

Please note I am asking specifically about the slow / medium / fast
options for how long a slide transitions from one to the next. Not how
long each slide is displayed before transitioning. I am guessing it is
somewhere in the VBA code, but I see no global features when I load
the editor, just macros.

This is in PPT 2005 (11.5).

Many thanks,
lm

I don't believe that can be done even with VBA... and even if it can, not
all transitions have the same speed settings.

As an alternative you might try using the Animation Effects. that may give
you what you're looking for.

BTW: You indicated v.11.5 so I'm assuming that "2005" is a typo :-), but if
your installation of Office is at 11.5.0 you're missing some important
updates. Office 2004 should be at 11.5.4, so you might want to use Help>
Check for Updates to get current -- especially if you're using the Leopard
flavor of OS X.

Not possible, unfortunately. In VBA, transition speed can take one of
three values, essentially fast, medium or slow. It doesn't allow
specifying values in any other units.

2. Slide transition timing is too long - can't adjust

I am creating a PowerPoint 2004 slideshow (on a Mac Powerbook G4) with
sound files embedded on each slide. I would like the slide to
transistion when the sound is done. I have set the transition to
automatic after 0 seconds, the sounds have no extra "dead air" before
or after them, and the sounds are set to start automatically with a
slide change. I am still getting a 7-10 second delay between sound
files, and I can't seem to fix it. I have done this before
successfully and I can't seem to locate the cause of the problem. Any
help is greatly appreciated!

4. Timing slide transitions to music

I have been learning how to run PPT presentations along with music. From
what I've been reading in the discussion group, it sounds like imbedding
music in a presentation and having it play throughout the whole slide show
can be tricky. However, it can be done.

I have an additional twist to this question. I want my slides to change at
specific points in the music. I've tried to time the presentation and adjust
the transitions accordingly by setting each slide to change after so many
seconds. This approach has not worked however. Invariably the timing gets
off. AND, if that wasn't bad enough, when I then take the presentation to
another computer, it runs at a different pace that it did on the one I
created the presentation on. (Why this is I don't know.)

Is it possible to create a presentation in PowerPoint that has this sort of
tight timing? Or, is there some other software that would be better for this
purpose?

Thanks in advance for your help.

6. I want sound to play over many slides using timed transitions

Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2003 I want to do a presentation that plays a WAV
file beginning at the first slide and continuing throughout the entire
presentation uninterupted by slide transitions. I want the slide to advance
automatically on a slide by slide timed basis. I have been successful at
getting the WAV file to play across multiple slides by using the sound option
of the slide transition menu. However, only works if I advance the slides
manually by clicking on each slide when I want it to change. I want to be
able to just let the presentation run without intervention. When I try to
advance the slides on a timed basis, the WAV file goes back to the beginning
and starts playing all over again. In other words, with each slide I get the
same 3 or 4 words of the song on the WAV file repeated over and over again.
I have not been successful at getting this to work if I insert the WAV file.

8. slide transition timing is out of sequence

I have 29 slide finished, I recorded my own song as part of the whole slide.
I as reherse the timing manually using mouse. During the process while the
music is playing the timing in page trasnsition are all exactly perfect the
way I want it to present . But when I turn on the slide show or watch the
slide show two to three slides are in right timing in sequence and the rest
are out of timing in sequence. The trsansition of pages are faster than waht
it said in the song. Please help.
