powerpoint >> Using new fonts

Processor: Intel

I need to run a presentation that requires me loading additional fonts. On a PC, I just loaded the new fonts through the control panel and PowerPoint would immediately use the new fonts and the presentation would disply properly. Now I am using a MacBook Pro and Powerpoint 2008 for Mac it is not working as easily. I found how to load now fonts on a Mac through (font builder.. I think that's its name) and I see them there. But when I run the office programs the new fonts are not available. Perhaps Office does not use the fonts from the Mac Font Building but uses their own.. in which case I would have to load them in office somehow. Any idea what I need to do to get this presenation working properly?

In OS X fonts can be installed in several different locations, so who has
access to any given fonts depends on where they're installed. Installation
is no more difficult than in Windows but you do have to install to the
appropriate font folder. It enables those of us who need literally hundreds
of fonts to better control which ones are available to which applications &
which user accounts, unlike windows where every program's font list displays
every font installed regardless of which user is logged in -- and on the Mac
there's no need for additional font management software unless you choose to
invest in it... Font Book does quite nicely :-)

There are also other variables such as what type of font & whether it is
designed for both display as well as print. Without more specific detail
it's hard to guess why the fonts are not available in the Office apps.

Assuming that everything else is as it should be, the most likely problem is
that the fonts were installed in a certain user's font folder & aren't
showing up because you're logged in as a different user. If that isn't the
case please provide as much detail as you can about how & where you
installed them, what type of fonts they are, where & how you obtained them,
as well as anything else you can offer on the matter.

I need help in adding a few of the fonts I commonly use to the Fonts Collection, which appears at the top of the Drop down menu under FONTS. I would like to store the names of a half dozen fonts in the Font Collection menu so that I can avoid scrolling through the entire Font list in order to highlight them. If one uses Verdana a lot, this is a real pain. Right now, when I go to Font Collections (under the Font menu), I see the subheading New Favorites, not no list appears when I click on it.
