Hello everybody.

I am new to powerpoint. I have only worked with it for a couple of days, so this might be a beginners question.

I want to make a presentation with pictures and text. The picture part is working ok for me but the text part is giving me trouble.

I want to copy/paste and article from word. I have inserted a textbox to my slide, but when i use the copy/paste function the text appaers with "bullets" as default. I have tried to "format" the textbox before copying, by "unclicking" the bullets, but when the text is pasted into the textbox the bullets turn on automatically.

I hope my question makes sense for some of you.

Best to all

I think so.

My guess is that you're pasting into a box that says "Click here to ... [whatever]"
before you paste anything into it. Those are "placeholders". They get their
formatting from the slide master and for body text placeholders, the usual default
is for them to have bullets. Each paragraph pasted in will become a new bullet.

Two ways around this one:

Go to Slide Master view and change the formatting on the body text placeholder so
that it has no bullets.

or

Instead of inserting new title/text slides, insert blank ones, then add a new text
box using the drawing tools and paste your text into that.

Save time for subsequent slides by formatting the first text box to taste then
copy/pasting it to the next slide and pasting new text into it.

Hi Folks;

On 4/29/09 12:24 AM, in article XXXX@XXXXX.COM ,

Another option I find a little more expedient without having to modify the
Master or create separate text boxes;

Paste as normal, press esc, then click the Bullets button

If only PPt gave us a kybd stroke to toggle bullets - or at least the
facility to assign one... Oh, well :-)

That's one Win feature I really do wish they'd implement on Mac versions
.. having keyboard equivalents for nearly everything on the menu.

Even though there are no specific shortcuts for, say, bullets, you can
still add/remove them from the keyboard. Alt+O for the format menu, B to
invoke the bullets/numbers dialog, arrow key to None, Enter.

Yeah, that always mystified me. I guess there's a reason, but you'd think
that as extensive as kybd customization is in Word & Excel that PPt would
have it as well. You can access & navigate the Menu via kybd in OS X but
it's such a PITA that it isn't worth it.

Perhaps they were preparing us. It's easier to get used to not having it in
2007 'cause we weren't used to having it before. ;-)

Or maybe that should be :-(

Try this. Run clipbrd.exe in both the Terminal Server session and in the
client machine and copy the text. Verify if you can see the copied clipboard
content both in the server and also in the client. Can you this and tell us
the result?
