powerpoint >> Service Pack 2 provides Path Animation

by Jim Gordon MVP » Tue, 21 Jul 2009 20:03:07 GMT

In an unusual move, Microsoft added a major feature to PowerPoint 2008
yesterday. Included with Service Pack 2 is the ability to create and
edit path animations.

After you update Office 2008 with service pack 2, when you choose Custom
Animation for an object, you'll find a new Path Animation button on the
Custom Animation palette of the Toolbox.

You can choose from 4 different line drawing tools.

Once you draw a line, you can right-click on the line and choose Edit
Points from the pop-up menu. Then you can adjust the line if you like.
While Edit Points is active, you can right-click on any point on the
line and change the point's properties.

1. "Directory Services" menu command missing from Entourage under Service pack 2

Yesterday I updated Microsoft Office 2004 using Service Pack 2 (11.2.0).
Today I have noticed that the handy "Directory Services" menu command
available in Entourage prior to Service Pack 2 is *gone*. With this command
one could connect to an ldap server and quickly get an address book "card"
for an individual, optionally adding it to the local address book kept by
Entourage.

Can anyone shed any light on what happened here? In particular, if I am
mistaken and this command (or a renamed equivalent) is available, I would
appreciate learning about that. Otherwise, can anyone at Microsoft tell us
why this command has been removed, and whether it will be brought back?

Thanks in advance for all replies to this post.

3. Office 2008 Service Pack 1: OpenType font issue

Version: 2008
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: intel

I've just installed SP1 - which resulted in several of my PowerPoint presentations not being displayed correctly any more!

I'm using OpenType fonts in the affected presentations - more specifically ScalaPro and ScalaSansPro. Before installing SP1, I was able to access these fonts' true bold and italic variants. Now neither the bold nor the italic variant is being displayed any more. Instead they are replaced by some horrible-looking digitally generated bold/italic type.

This is just awful! How can this happen? Why does a "Service Pack" make things WORSE?

5. Problem with Powerpoint after service pack installation

I installed the service pack 1 on my computer now I am having a
problem opening up and creating new powerpoint documents. It's telling
me I have a problem with the MS then there are a bunch of oriental
letters after it saying it will substitute and or disable it.

I went to my fonts book and disabled all the chinese, japanese and
koren fonts but I am still having the same problem. I have to hit the
OK button about 6 times before it fully opens a file and/or creates a
new one.

Any suggestions?

7. Down loading service pack 3 is unsuccessful

I was working with Powerpoint and it switched off to submit an error report.
Then I was asked to down load service pack 3 . All my four tries gave me a
message in the end that the download was unsuccessful. I tried it by turning
off my firewall and anti virus but still it came with the same message of
download unsuccessful.
