powerpoint >> Pasting as "Link" or "Embedding" from Excel to Powerpoint

Hello,

I come across a lot of situations where in I need to link data (A range of
cells from excel or charts) into Powerpoint and then have them automatically
updated as the information chages in Excel.

The problem which I always face is formatting. Once the paste the
information into Powerpoint (using the "Paste-special" method") Powerpoint
automatically rezises the object into a smaller size and distorts the font.
Also when the information is updated in Excel and I say update links in
Powerpoint, the object is resized and the fonts are also distorted. Can
someone please let me know how to prevent this from happening?

Without any indication of what version of Office you're using it's a bit
difficult to offer a meaningful suggestion. The description of the problem
suggests that you're using Office on a PC but you've posted to the group for
Mac PPT. If that's the case you'd do better to ask in a group for Windows
Office which you'll find here:

http://www.microsoft.com/office/community/en-us/FlyoutOverview.mspx

Regardless of whether you post there or reply here, version information is
always essential in any request.

I found from one of the discussion groups that you can prevent auto-resizing
by un-checking the "Automatic Layout for inserted objects" in the auto
correct options. I am amazed that this option is not available to me in
Powerpoint 2007. I only have "Automatic bullets" "Autofit Title text" and
"Autofit Body Text".

Any solutions?

Hi,

I have been looking for a solution to a simple problem and did not find anything exhaustive yet.

In Windows, when I want to link an Excel worksheet data into Powerpoint, I just copy from Excel and through the Paste Special option, select Paste Link into Powerpoint. Thus, when I updated the data in Excel, it is automatically updated in Powerpoint.

In Office or Mac, it seems that this is not the case. When I copy some data from Excel to Powerpoint, the only option I have under the Paste Special menu, is ... Paste as. If I select Excel Worksheet object, the data is pasted in the slide but not link to the original file. There is no options to link the existing Excel worksheet to a Powerpoint slide.

Does anybody have any idea how to do this? Linking a graph work without problems, even if the process is cumbersome but not a worksheet.

Thank you,

Nam

When I try and paste larger Excel tables into Powerpoint it parts of the

Paste as a Device Independent Bitmap. A coworker of mine is able to paste
the same size table as a linked object. Is there a setting that I can change
so I can accomplish the same result?
