powerpoint >> Can't Paste Foreign Language Characters from Word to PP

I have Office 2004 for Mac. I need to copy text from Word that has foreign language accents and characters in it and paste it into PowerPoint. The font is Arial in both programs. The accents and characters look fine in Word, but become gibberish in PP. For example, letters with umlaut accent marks. I can edit the PP file and replace the gibberish with the correct symbol, but I don't have time to do that. Please help! And if I need to somehow acquire a new font, will you please tell me exactly how to do that?
Thanks!

In PPt try using Edit> Paste Special - Unformatted Text. You may still have
to do some reformatting but the characters should be accurate.

Is it possible to use an upper and lower case S and T with a cedilla
in Word? I'm using Office X for Mac, service release 1. I haven't yet
upgraded to Office 2004. Before I do I want to know if I can easily

4. Can't paste from foreign sources

When I cut from foreign source (such as an Internet page,
or a different program) I cannot paste in Word 2003
unless I have the program open first.

It is as if the act of opening Word 2003 deletes whatever
is on the clipboard, as I am able to paste my item on any
number of other programs (Excel, Quark, etc.) which were
not open beforehand, but as soon as I open Word the paste
is gone (and then I cannot paste it anywhere else
either).

This was not a problem in Word 97.

6. language problem (foreign language in applet)

I have the same problem, only it is Japanese (or Chinese, etc) instead. The ODBC help files and the applet are both unreadable to our users. This happened when installing a third party program: they don't know how to fix it! (grrr) I know the language of the ODBC applet is hard-coded somewhere (in the registry or maybe in a .dll?). I have searched but am unable to solve this puzzle.

Do anyone know how to fix this? I would be ever so grateful!
Thank you

Hi,

For some reason in Word 2008 I cannot toggle OSX's character palette (Command+Option+T), which is much easier to use than "Insert -- > Symbol...". I removed the assignment of this combination from the command TableSelectTable, so there should be no conflict... however, pressing Commmand+Option+T still does not invoke the Character Palette. Does anyone know a solution to this? Thanks!
