powerpoint >> embedding music in a PP presentation

Version: 2008
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: Intel

I have just prepared a PP presentation which includes background music inserted the normal way from a file and being asked to play automatically.

The problem I ran into is that if I send it to someone else or to another of my computers, the presentation opens, but the music, not.

My suspicion is that because the other person or computer does NOT have the music file needed, it will not play. Am I right?

If so, is there anyway of embedding the music in the presentation so it can be played music and all in another place?

Thanks much.

Emile

1. Embedding pictures and music tracks in a PP presentation

I am starting my first presentation using PowerPoint 2003 in Windows XP Home
Edition. I have received .pps files in emails and downloaded them from the
web. They have both pictures and music and work great. These seem to be
embedded in the PowerPoint presentation .pps file. A couple of times, the
pictures in the slides and/or the music were received as attachments. But, I
assume that these objects can be embedded within the PP presentation file so
that they don't have to be attachments.

The question is "How to embed pictures and music tracks". The PP help
didn't help me.

Sincere thanks for any guidance on this.

5. Embedded music in PP 2003

I am finally learning a little about PowerPoint. I now know how to add a
RIFF header to an mp3 file and to embed the sound track using the Insert menu.

I have a few PP shows with music forwarded to me that I use as a learning
tool. I don't know the original authors. When I change the .pps extension
to .ppt and open them, I cannot find the sound icon in any slide. I did,
however, find the name of the music as the third item in the dropdown list
for "Sound:" under "Modify Transition" in the Slide Transition panel.

How did the author embed it? Is there a way to edit or delete it? Can I
have it start someplace other than the beginning?

Also, when I embed a sound track using Insert in the first slide with it
started Automatically, it seems to not actually start until the show has gone
2, 3 or 4 seconds. Am I doing something wrong?

Thank you for you help.

7. How to embed a powerpoint presentation within another powerpoint presentation

Too lazy to fire up the Mac and check, so I'll just ask if you can do either of:

- Insert Object and create from file, pick a PPT file

- Drag an existing PPT file icon onto a slide

Either works in the Windows version to embed a PPT into another PPT.
