To creaate or edit a file in Korean (Japanese, Chinese, maybe some other languages) your Windows PC or Windows PC running in Virtual PC on a Mac would have to have Korean fonts and also Korean language support installed. To display - but not edit - the file, you'd still need to have the Korean font, but I don't think you'd need Korean language support installed. ================================================ Steve Rindsberg, PPT MVP PPT FAQ: www.pptfaq.com PPTools: www.pptools.com ================================================

4. Help needed opening PC PowerPoint generated files with Mac
I have had problems opening some PC PowerPoint files on my Mac with Office 2004 for sometime. I have been getting the message that I needed to contact the originator of the files and have them saved in an earlier version of PowerPoint. The files that cause me grief are presentations I do on contract for an safety training organization. When I upgraded to Office 2008 I figured my problems would be gone. But when I went to open them the same files that open fine on a PC give me the message that, " This presentation is protected by a password or digital Rights Management (DRM. To access the presentation, you must have a version that is not protected by a password or DRM. What do I do now? Any suggestions? jim Mahon

6. Mac files unreadable or parts missing when opened in PC versions
I am experiencing some seemingly random cross-platform file errors that I'm hoping someone else may have experienced and solved. I am working with PPT 2004, 11.3.6. I run compatibility checks and "issues" are rarely found; and when they are it's regarding transparency or some unavailable animation equivalent between platforms. So, no file format errors found. The files I save are being passed back and forth between PC PPT users and me. At times PC users will get the "this is not a PPT file" message on files that come from me or that have passed through me for edits. Errors also manifest in files that they will be able to open and edit and then get corrupted file messages when they try to save. There have also been instances where all graphics on random slides w/ in a presentation will just disappear. These "disappearance" issues are not always w/ imported images such as photos or linked files from other applications; they have also occurred with graphics created directly w/in PPT. Sometimes creating a new file and re-applying a design template will correct the problems, sometimes it won't. As I have not been able to duplicate errors under similar conditions, this all seems quite random to me, so I don't even know where to begin troubleshooting. As I say, I am hoping that someone out there may have experienced similar problems with cross-platform file transfers and be able to help me figure out where to start looking for a solution. It may just be a matter of asking the right questions. So please feel free to interrogate me! I'm desperate for some sort of solution! Thx. ne.

8. PowerPoint 2004 for Mac can't open PowerPoint PC files
When I attempt to open a PowerPoint file created on a PC, I get the following error message from PowerPoint 2004 for Mac: "The server application, source file, or item cannot be found. Check that the path and file name are correct, or try reinstalling the server application." Several of my colleagues have tried to open PC created PPT files using PowerPoint X for Mac. They get the same unhelpful error message. I'm running OS 10.3.5. Anybody have an answer? Thanks.
